I hear that. This morning I forgot to take the laptop out with me for cold start tuning. It was 40° out at 6am, car started, with a 10:1afr sounding like a top fuel dragster, and burned the hell out of my eyes like alky haha.

well rain turned into snow , so just helped them in the shop working on the farm equipment . tommorow i should get the car inside so i can pull the nose and take the sawzall to the front of the car , im propably going to cut out the radator support , and the crashbar and build my own radiator mount and push the intercooler way out front as far as i can get it in the grill opening

From what I've researched, quite a bit of room can be gained by doing that, if you don't mind cutting up and re-cabbing a core support. Get room to front mount the turbo probably.

I thought about redoing the lower radiator support so I can stuff the radiator forward. I don't know that it's worth the effort though. I just painted the car and don't wanna start taking body panels off.

Why wouldn't you use street tires on the street, and slicks or drag radials when you trailer it to the track?

trailer there aint no trailers here lol, only street tires i have are sets of 245 and 255's that are basically brand new if im going to spend the money im getting something that will atleast hookup at speed , even with the stock engine street tires ( either set of bfgs) didnt stand a chance

somone on hr.com told me to try a dirt tire in a soft/med compound says they work really well seems liek i can get new 27x10x15's for 50-80 each for something thats dot stamped might be worth the shot if there that cheap

Re: and so it starts

Never had a problem hooking with 500 ish whp on bridgestone potenzas. Thats a 19" tire too. 17's or smaller with sidewall should do better. Worked well. The drag radial in 19" hooks 700 whp rolls. Not much more.
Drag radial 15's hook all 1000 ponies so far. They wear fast if racing alot and doin lots of burnouts which i was doing.

But if you have plans for higher power 650+ whp, and want traction, you cant have your cake and eat it too. To a point. You sacrifice life for traction or vice versa.
Now i'm curious how a nt05r in 315/17 sizes would work for street. They lasted long on my 320 hp daily driver ls1 car

But you are looking at 15" right? Dont think they make 15" nt05r yet. Idk what else is out there thats a good soft street tire

Aftermarket race, and have the direct drum machined down so you can run 5 frictions and 5 steels. The only real failure you could have if a sprag failure, which the aftermarket race will help with somewhat. (a complete sprag assembly would be better).

Make sure you check your case clearance for the bell housing. I doubt ever pump is the same, and a .010" difference could be a major problem.

i gotcha. the th400 is a much better trans normally when placed behind a good bit of power. 4l80 is a good trans too, since its just a 400 with overdrive. (sortof)

the end goal has always been to work twards an 4l80 , i need it to run at boneville . after that mess witht he th400 i dont ever wanna see one again , id adapt a 47re dodge trans before i mess with another 400 , which is basically a 727 with an overdrive unit bolted on the back . my friend builds them for all the diesel guys around here

I have a adjustable pressure switch that was included with the Devils Own kit, also have relay, and fuse holder, if you want it. Never needed it since the EBL controls the alky.

Better off doing it with the computer since you have more control.

Yeah its pretty awesome using the ECM to control it, and FYI, using a Chrysler fan relay off a 90's Neon to drive the pump. Seemed to work really well.

i need to do some reading but i think u just turn the pump on all the time and pulse the solinoid. to start i will prolly just wire it up with the hobbs switch and a relay , i also wont be running methanol cant get any around here , so its blue washer fluid for me

Re: and so it starts

Should squeeze ok power out the p trim although a .96 would help lol 68 q trim be even better

If it fit a on3 p trim turbo i may be interested in a trade. .81 would fit my 305 better

Well I think that's what the relay does, solid state PWM for accurate control.

You can order M1 meth from vendors all over the place? If you ever make it into Vegas, there's Haycock petroleum right next to Nellis AFB that sells M1 5 gallon containers for around 40 bucks. Or you can go to HD or Lowes and get a gallon of denatured alcohol for around 15 bucks. I tested out the denatured alcohol in the GN and burned thru about 3 quarts just tuning the pump output lol. Probably 6-7 WOT blasts with a 14gph nozzle. 25 psi and didn't log any knock.

i can get it but just have to travel far to do it , so around town and daily low boost use ill just spray the washer fluid , at the tracks ill run methanol since i can get it right there

i wish e85 was available in this area , the only 2 ways i can get it are to drive 60 miles away to another town which wont work , or i can order it in big drums form one of the fuel suppliers but i dont feel like having to store that **** down at the shop and then having limited range on the car when i want to take it out of town

Re: and so it starts

Run the denatured alky for street and track. You dont want to be switching percentages of alky unless you have separate tunes for them.

Why are two tunes needed?

With a 15gal/hr nozzle:

Straight alky
(((15 * 6) / 1) / .58) * .7 = 108.62069 HP

50% / 50% alky
(((15 * 6) / 1) / .58) * .7 *.5 = 54 HP

If the engine is making 600+ HP, then the AFR isn't going to change that much going from 108HP to 54HP worth of alky.

From an evaporation / cooling perspective, water does a good job absorbing energy.
