You could also mount them underneath the car. Like the STS rear mount turbos.

Re: and so it starts

i dont see why you would have to cut the hood at all? your turbos are located where the banks manifolds put them, and those had t4 housings....?
i think your gates should be done like the banks manifolds too. right on the front of the manifolds. 38's or 44's placed there should take care of the issue, imo.

ive thought about moving them there
im using 38's now , moving the driverside wg to the front of the manifold is easy , ill have to take a closer look at the passenger side and see if the alternator is in the way

i didnt expect the new heads/cam intake combo to cause so many new issues with the turbo setup , with the stock heads tpi and old cam , the setup worked great and would control boost down to 5/6 psi

I'd be interested in a link to a price list of what you have.

I hope health wise you work things out. I know from personal experience that when these things happen it can be a huge drain both emotionally and financially.

Damn Dave, sorry to hear that. Hope all turns out well for you. I would offer to buy some stuff to help you out but I don't think I will have any decent funds any time soon. Besides one of those turbos would be wayy too big for a 2.8 lol.

Anyways, hope everything works out for you man, and thanks for the help with my build. I will have some videos soon hopefully.

Re: and so it starts

im curious to what u guys think to what the car itself would be worth if
i stuck a 700r4/stock 350 carb combo in it and finished the paint and body work on the car

i already have ebrythign including the piant to do that but not sure it would be worth the effort to keep the engine and turbo related stuff as im sure thats were most of the value is.
but would atleast allow me to hold onto the engine/turbo stuff if my situation gets good enough were i can have a toy again

I was gonna do slp runners tpi on mine but they go for 250 used and that hsr is only few bucks more. I didnt want to bypass emissions tho, trying to keep the car as original as possible. Hsr make more power tho with my mild cam. Tough call. Hsr is easier to work on

Good thing about emissions is that the catlytic converter is the only device that needs to stay in the original location from a visual perspective. We can run EGR off of the exhaust primary like the V6 engines, and fabricate a 2" to 3"plate that sandwhiches between the throttle body and HSR plenum with an EGR flange welded into it, then run it that way...

no need for a plate u can feed the egr into one of the large vacum ports on the side of the tpi throttle body

Can't do that if he is concerned about emissions, because yes the EGR will work, but then the PCV and Charcoal Canister system becomes compromised because those large vacuum ports belong to them. Best bet would be to get a used nitrous plate from an old kit, then drill and tap for a fitting of similar size. Could always just drill and tap the HSR plenum itself too, but then it would ruin the plenum...

drilling and tapping acyually isnt a bad idea , and if u dont run the ait in the bottom of the plenum , theres already a tapped hole

Glad to hear that you won't be selling it anytime soon! Ive been reading your Dart Copies (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...cc-64cc-3.html) and your $3500 build (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...-353sbc-4.html) threads and I get here to read the bad news. I was sad like it happened to me lol but glad things are looking up brother. These cars are hard to part with. I know, I'm on my 4th one. Keep on keeping on man, good work.

Re: and so it starts

Awesome brother, glad to hear. I do have a question regarding the assault racing heads you used. Your thread intrigued me and I've added a set to my cart on ebay. This is my first experience with aluminum heads and figured I'd start on a fairly good and cheap pair as opposed to buying a set of Edelbrock, Trickflow, etc. and potentially messing them up. But before I purchase, I would like to know, did you mix and match your valvetrain parts or buy them all in a kit? Where did you purchase them? I have ZERO experience with cylinder head assembly and do not know where to start. I however will NOT be doing my own head assembly, only watching and learning. I just would like to know what parts or the right kit so I will have everything to get them assembled. I was doing basic back and forth searching as far as finding out the valve diameter and searching for that diameter on summit. Got brain wracking. Here are the heads to-be. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SBC-Chevy-200cc-Bare-Aluminum-Cylinder-Heads-64cc-Straight-Plug-Small-Block-350-/390487976745?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aeae5ab29&vxp=mtr And sorry for the long post.

i mixed and matched from ebay and summit , but all brand name stuff , if u contact the seller u can order them assembled with good parts , i think the cheap assembled ones come with procomp parts , then he has versions ith manley valves and comp cams springs

oh btw my only compliant about thos eheads and not even a big deal , is the factory sending unit for the temp gauge wont screw into the heads , wasnt a big deal i ust screwed it into my intake

if u do order ur own valve compnonets u need +.100 valves in 2.02/1.60 sizes , the heads will fit a 2.05 valve as well , but require minor machine work for the valve seats so just stick with 2.02 intake valves.
if u use a hyd flt tappet cam u need +.100 pushrods as well

AWESOME! THANKS FOR THAT INFO! What size pushrods for a roller cam? I want to use a roller block for technological simplicity.

couldnt tell ya since i didnt use a roller cam
, i almost forgot spend a lil extra money an dbuy adjustable guide plates , the valve location is not stock on these heads , its moved .030 stock guideplates will be good enough but not perfect. if u want 100% perfect u need the adjustable plates, they are only a few bucks more then the standard plates

Re: and so it starts

Looks good Dave, what size tires are you running front and back? Hesitating myself from putting the 315's on a 9.5" rim, as the minimum calls for 10.5", but we'll see what happens at this point. Any other mods done to your car...?

Re: and so it starts

sigh im starting to hate this thing again, i take the car out to run some errands in town , stop at the gas station shut the car off fill up and one of the owner of the shop i get all my tubing bent at pulls in.he hasnt seen the new engine or setup yet so he come over to check it out.

of course i go to fire it up and i get no start fouled all the plugs out finally get it running and limp the car back home, i gota get some hotter plugs for it till i can dial the tune in a lil better

Hang in there bro, it definitely gets frustrating. If you were local we would definitely give you a hand with it. You need to come back to New Jersey, Utah seems to not be good to/for you lol...

lol when u read this and see what pump i got ull see why i said that

holley 12-1800 pump shipped today for those of u that dont know this is a self contained dual pump setup , best part is i dont have to sump the fuel tank , i just need to figure out how to get the pump inside the tank lol
then pop a 10an bulkhead in the top of the tank for the feed

still need to purchase a bunch of line but u cant decide on if i want solid lines or just do steel braided

fuel rails are being upgraded to -10's i want absolutly no restriction anywere on the feed side ofthings as i plan on running e85 at the track , and pumpgas/meth on the street since i cant buy e85 locally

diest chute shipped , its a lil underrated for the car but its just to get me past the tech guys

trying to decide if i want to buy a methanol injection kit or piece my own together , u guys have any suggestions ???
