BTW, Project... this build thread has to be one of the fastest ones around, makes me feel like my pace is sometimes glacial...

 

thats really bad considering i have a very small budget each month to spend on the car , not to mention i only get to work on it on the weekends and sometimes thats only 2 times a month
alls i know is the car better faster then the bike when all is said and done lmao , its pretty dang fast considering it still aint broken in and aint been leaned on yet , its got enough power to lift the front up in 5th with me on it and im 230 pounds
its only seen 127mph so far

 

Lol I had my 09' CBR 600 RR on 183 several times ... that's as fast as it would go .... my advice stay away from 100+mph wheelies that's how I totaled mine :-0

the rest of my parts came in , only thing that sucks is instead of having friday sat sunday to work on the car , im only going to have about 4-5 hours on friday so we will see what i get done

 

well engine is complete and wraped back up in the engine bag , car is also in the shop and i will be taking time off of work to complete it , first order of busniness is to rip out the old hacked up harness i bought and completly rewire the car and the standalone ecm to make it much neater and more professional looking

once i rip out the old harness i will strip the engine bay and paint it with the chassi black paint i picked up the install the engine and finish the rewiring


the goal is to have the car running and ready to go by next weekend

 

u know i just relized i dont know what plugs i need for this thing , lol i threw away the lil card that came with the heads

currently running an ms1 extra , it wa soriginally and ms2 extra but i downgraded it , when i put this motor back in im going back to the ms2 cpu , and this summer im stepping upto a ms pro 3x

 

i would suggest 3923 auto lites

im assuming the 3923 is just a colder plug? ?
never was a fan of autolites so im going to see if i can x refrence a delco or ngk plug to use

yes the autolite 3923 is a colder plug......its what im running in my car as well. with 16 psi of boost

 

well it runs but motor and trans are coming back out , something is squealing something awful and i cant pinpoint if its coming from the engine or trans

engine has rock steady oil presure and revs good , the trans is a fresh built th400

i was thinking about throwing the 700r4 back in it before i pull everything to see if it goes away

 

Good way to narrow it down. Im sure for you swapping a trans is no big feat, lol

its in the transmission got it dropped and fired the motor and no more noise

 

 

700 is going back in it for the time being , need to fix the sticky tv valve first though , ill try to get the 700 torn down this weekend

 

When I did the WOT TV mod for the 3-4 shift i just used a needle file for that and it worked great. Dont know if sleeve burrs are the same issue you are having though.

 

wont know till i get it apart , it doesnt always stick , and when it does if i shut the car off and stomp on th gas pedal a few times open shut open shut open shut it will unstick
it only seems to stick if im open the throttle real slow and only go to about half throttle

 

Kinda sounds the same as when mine did it, seems like its just catching the sleeve. Then again I dont do transmissions, lol

Things could be worse bro, could always have either a cracked exhaust housing, or leaky center section seal like me (I'm thinking the latter). Won't know for sure until it cools off, as I was beating the heck out of it up and down Route 9 a little while ago...

on a side note my friend gave me a set of chevy truck long tube headers for free, so instead of buying those up and foward headers form cx racing im going to cut the long tubes up and build my own

 

engine is back on the stand , pulled it to paint the engine bay chassi black and to complteley redo the wiring , so far today i got the engine pulled and all the wiring stripped out of the engine bay. mocked up the s10 heater box

tommorow i will paint the bay wire up the heater n and drop the engine back in and start wiring up the ecm

have to refit 1-2 pieces to get rid of some gaps but those are the headers im replacing my log headers with

 

How thick are the header flanges...?

 

they are borderline at 1/4 inch but if i slice the flanges between the fornt and rear primarys it will be a non issue


i think they will be fine as is as the flanges have sealing rings welded and ground flat on the flange faces , so im going to run them without cutting the flanges first and then if it becomes and issue i will cut them

 

well its 530 am on my way out the door to head over and work on the car , hopefully by lunch time i can have everything back in the car and buttoned up, car is supposed to delivered to the body shop by this weekend for paint

anyways heres whats going on , i need to rework the up and fowards i built just a lil bit



im very pleased with them as i could run dual 4 inch downpipes with tons of clearance , but instead of the twin gt3582's i think im going to pick up something like a single 88 mm turbo to use with the up and fowards

so for the time being i cleaned up the log headers and cut the old wastegate stands off since they hit the new valve covers , i think im just going to make new wastegate stands on 45* angles which will make everything clear again


as u can see in this picture the flange on the turbine housing also hit the valve cover so i took a grinder to it to get it to clear



on the todo list is to figure out were to mount the new afpr and run the new fuel lines
adapt the s10 heater box fan wiring to the stock f-body wiring
swap the power steering box out for a manual box
move the intercooler out fowards after cutting the crash bar
wire up the new megasquirt harness

other then that i have some areo mods im doing on the car ive got a custom rear diffuser on the way along with a front splitter

 

so my new hood arrived today
this is my fist steel amd hood and i love it , look sso much better then the harwood hoods
the downside is mine arrived damaged as u can see below
but big thumbs up to summit racing , no questions asked and they sent out a new hood by the time i was off the phone with them , should be here by friday as the replacement is comming from nv instead of ohio , why they didnt just ship it from nv to begin with is beyond me though

my replacement for the first hood they sent will be here tommorow so its looking ral good for getting the car up and running and over to the bodyshop this weekend

thnx , i got a bunch done so far today and im going to head back after i drop the wife off at work.

so far today i got the log headers modified and welded back up ready to be bolted back on for the last time

got the holes cut in the hood to mount my oil presure and fuel presure gauges in the cowl by the windshield

when i head back im going to get the headers and turbos/downpipes mounted up for the last time
then im going to drop the nose off the car so i can cut the front crash bar and move my intercooler up into the nose more
going to try to get the trans pan off today so i can weld in abung for the trans temp gauge

car should be back on the road no later then wensday, on mobnday i need to pick up a few odd bolts and a thing of shrink tubing so i can finish up my last lil bit of wiring, ive also now got the megasquirt controlling pumps #2 and 3 pump 1 comes on with the key


i also got real sneaky with my launch control/antilag switch im using the hatch release switch to active it instead of a pushbutton/toggle in the car

 

figured id update this before i head to bed

i got the headers modified and installed for the last time, turbos are also bolted on for the last time
downpipes need to be modified to fit past the new wastegate placement

got the oil presure and fuel presure gauges mounted up
also picked up a massive intercooler out of a diesel , lets just say it takes up the entire front of the car ,makes my 12x32x4 intercooler look small
i also rewired the fuel pumps
pump #1 is on with the key
pump #2 and pump #3 are both ecm controlled and are triggered by boost presure

my antilag/launchcontrol switch has been moved from a toggle to the factory hatch release switch ( no more toggles in the car for anything , so besides some gauges in the car when u look inside it there wont be anything to really give away whats under the hood

on the todo list is weld in a bung for the trans temp sending unit so i can datalog trans temp
modify downpipes
fit the new intercooler
and install the correct spark plugs ones i have now are way to hot


down the road i will be switching to a sequential injection , and cop ignition system


im hoping to be driving the car by wensday or thursday at the latest

 

car will be back on the road this weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!
i picked up the last few parts i needed yesterday.
holy crap 31$'s for a bottle of gm e.o.s from the dealer ,ill tell ya what that crap has gotten expensive , so after the next oil change ill switch to royal purple or some other oil that has the zinc in it

also picked up the right heat range spark plugs

up and fowards are for sale they are currently only tacked together so i can change the collector and put whatever flange u want on it for the buyer

well i should have been driving the car home today ,only thing left to do was finish up the wiring and mount the fpr , got everything done except i didnt see my tps pigtial fall on the floor and i stepped on it and broke it, of course i do this about 30 mins after the only parts store in town closes.

 

Will you freaking throw up an idle video already so I can start throwing up some driving videos, I am waiting for you ya know cuz the other Dave seems to be gone, and the two of our builds are the only one's left that are being documented/chronicled with a SBC and video lol. No excuses today, get that freaking Megasquirt of yours freaking Mega moving for crying out loud already...

 

i cant let the car idle just yet , cam still isnt broken in all the way , i tried to finish it today but it wont run right without the tps hooked up
