Re: and so it starts
yeah more then likley i will have to goto a roller setup to get the high lift, current block would need retrofit rollers which i wouldnt trust due to being so heavy , i plan on turnning some rpm with this thing
i do have a roller block but i would have to send it to the machine shop to have it preped and bored/honed so i can reuse my current pistons in it
honestly im more then likley going to pull the engine tear it down clean it well and throw the summit cam in it so i can have the car back for the weekend , shouldnt be much damage as we caught the cam going flat soon as the car started to run funny

lol orr is right above what i want to get out of this.
id say it makes about 450hp off boost ( i didnt miss the turbos while driving it around n/a it had plenty of power more then the old engine on low boost) , dont know what it makes with boost yet , i havent had the chance to hook up the turbos yet, that was the goal this week lol

Re: and so it starts
Morels! Supposively best lifter out. Can handle much higher spring loads. Supposively light solid roller type loads 200-220 seat pressure 500 open. I run 180/450.
Contact chris straub at straubtechnologies.com i think it is
Beaware they are plus .300" taller so in a roller block that has raised lifter pad you need the heads off to install them. Non roller block shouldnt have issues

so far everything looks ok , not to much metal in the engine , think we should be able to clean it out well enough,
engines getting all new bearings and oil pump though its looking good for being back together for the weekend

With those heads, it would be nice to have more lift.
What's up with the case tractor? It has been in there since the beginning of the build. Is the rear end gone?

Re: and so it starts
thats why im considering the mechanical cam , i can get a cam with small duration and high lift
yeah the rear blew up in it , took a few months to track down some of the parts
now thats its grow/harvest season , not much work gets done on the farm equip since theres no time. it wont get fixed till the seaon is over

Woooaaa, That top end started out cheap. How much you have into the heads & cam parts now?
What is the fancy control panel for? Figured the ECM would be controlling everything.

BUT...........
Everytime I price out what I would have into a Gen1/II SBC, I look at the prices for a used 3/4 ton 2002+ 2wd truck and think........for 1,500 I can have a 6.0 LQ, 4L80E, PCM, harness. Tough decision.

Your builds are well thought out economically and mechanically.

overboosting by a large margin with the twins , unfortunatly i dont have room under the hood to stick a pair of t4 turbined turbos on the log headers and have them fit under the hood
so i think im going to have to dig out the up and fowards i fabbed and stick a large single turbo on it
suggestions ?
im thinking a nice 88mm will do the trick

Re: and so it starts
More flow you bypass the less turbine drive and thus less backpressure. It will control low boost if you bypass vast majority of flow with additional gates or a large one that is in proper spot.
Re: and so it starts
im thinking with the location of the wastegates, you will probably need some overly large ones to be able to run low boost. and even that may not be enough. you might be able to remove them entirely and still overboost.
