Do I need a 2 bar MAP sensor?

I just installed a procharger D1SC on my car. Will the factory map sensor still work or do I need to upgrade to a 2 bar MAP sensor? Just need to know before I go to get it dyno tuned. I plan on running around 10 or 12 lbs of boost. Thanks

If your using an FMU to supply fuel under boost, then no, you don't...

I am not using an fmu. Just getting my car tuned and using the 730 ecm.

You would have to rewrite the code from scratch that way running an $8D bin. Best to run the $59 bin with either a 2 or 3-Bar MAP sensor, just set which sensor your going with and start tuning your fuel and spark tables through Tuner Pro . You can probably find a bin very close to your setup on the Code 59 website for a good base...

I am not doing the work myself. It is all being done by the guy who is dyno tuned the car. What should I tell him to do then?

He seemed content with the 7730, otherwise I would recommend the EBL-P4 all the way. Justin makes a good point though, if the tuner was going to tune the 7730 just by slapping a 2-Bar MAP sensor onto it, he might not be the best tuner to go with...

Re: Do I need a 2 bar MAP sensor?

If using code $59 you gotta have some background in it to know about what needs changed to make it run in a v8 and alot of base file work to build a file before starting car and tuning it. Not exactly simple, takes a few hrs of reading the information and downloading all the files and building the base tune to load. Unless hes done this before then its not a simple plug and play process. If its a procharger kit and you have a good na tune then use the fmu from procharger

Re: Do I need a 2 bar MAP sensor?

It is a procharger kit, but I didn't get the FMU. I only have a base tune done to the motor right now that was done by tunedperformance. Will I be able to get the car tuned with the blower and the factory 1 bar map sensor then?

Re: Do I need a 2 bar MAP sensor?

Your not going to get that thing tuned with a one bar map sensor. The sensor would be maxed and it has no way of telling the difference between naturally aspirated air and 12 psi. So your fuel and spark needs would be totally out of wack. Now I haven't seen it yet but with a 2 bar map you might be able to half the tables, still if it was that easy it would have been done already. Code $59 is a little to complicated for a beginner and would recommend staying away from it. Think your best option is go with the EBL-P4 and learn to do things yourself, I'm sure you would get a lot of help from people on here.

Then simply buy an FMU from Vortech, as they offer an FMU kit with varying ratio plates to help you dial in your fueling. It is very easy to utilize...

Again, find a bin close to your setup on the Code 59 website, reach out to Paul over there if need be. Or have Brian from Tuned Performance burn you a chip using the $8F mask as a base, he would just need to make the adjustments for the differences in the timing because your running a distributor, or simply go with the EBL-P4 like most of us did and be done with it.

Well you can kinda bandaid it with pe enrich vs rpm. Blower is more linear with boost vs rpm so it could get you close enough but reallly isnt optimal.
