Weian Supercharger & Mini Blowers
I am interested in a Weiand 142 blower for my car. The engine is a carbed 350 with Vortec heads. I have plans to do a supercharger cam swap, port the heads, and put the 142 blower on top. I am curious to see pictures of your guys Third Gens with blowers on them. What hoods are you running? I would imagine at least a 4" cowl would be required. Post pics please.Thank you!

Re: Weian Supercharger & Mini Blowers
well, here in TN you cant have anything that would obstruct the drivers view. ie no 6-71s sticking thru the hood on a street driven car. no cracked windshields ect.

good point, out here in TN the THP takes delight in "safety" checks. as a means to harass and otherwise rain on our parade. theres a rod run one town over annually in pigeon forge. and they line up and have at them, blue dot tail lights , tires sticking out of the fenders, blowers , headlight height , window tint ect. ect.

Tires sticking out of the fenders is a legitimate safety issue, however.

Sorry O.P. for the side track.
I don't know whether the cops don't give a rats a$$ about blowers or not here in California but my father in law and my self have never had any issues with the law. They did ask us to remove the parachute though. Maybe it's because both of us have grey hair.

Any chance the weiand 142 mini blower will fit under the 2" Goodmark cowl hood I have on my third gen?

Re: Weian Supercharger & Mini Blowers
I'm not running a Weiand, but a Magnacharger MP-122H. It's pretty similar to a Weiand, but it's apparently a little taller because I needed to run a 4" cowl and use a drop base air cleaner with a 3" element to clear it…and it barely does. The air cleaner sits all the way up into the cowl with the hood closed. Here's a couple pics. I had it parked at Wisconsin Dells when I was on this year's Hot Rod Power Tour:

The good old 60's era oem style 14x3" GM corvette Big block camaro-chevelle air cleaner base sits lower and makes more under hood room than typical aftermarket air cleaners. Adds another 1/2" room. You can get these thru GM muscle car resto parts sources.
Remove the carb choke horn (like on a HP carb when using this base and a 14x3 filter.
Use a 750+++ cfm carb. Blowers like a big carb(s)...A 750hp carb body kit hot rods the stock holley 650+ double pump carbs nicely for this. Adds flow and adjustable air bleeds too. (allows easy fine tuning for the blower)
You want a motor with low cr dished pistons when using a 64cc vortec head and a blower.
-22cc D dished forged trw or Probe pistons are nice for this.
(Flat tops and 64cc heads are not going to work for you)
A 8.5 or less-lower cr is prefered. (allows more boost and power on pump gas)
Good street blower cams HYD Crane HMV278-2 Crane H288-2 ,,, Solid, flat tappet- Crane F278-2 F288-2 F280-2 All can benefit with 1.6 or 1.65 ratio intake rockers to get more net intake valve lift. The exhaust side is fine with 1.5's.
Porting vortec heads:
If you are going to port the vortec heads, also add new larger 2.02x 1.60 valves too.
When you both fully hand port the vortecs and add larger 2.02x 1.60 valves they work real good. Vortec heads will need valve spring seat and guide boss mods and correct springs.
All the better when blown.
Plan on wanting a 3" cowl hood height, reguardless.
A 3000+stall and 3.73 ish gears is just right.
A low compression ratio 350 vortec blower motor built around this recipe will make serious power and torque.
You want the 142 blower's drive ratio in the 2.10 to 2.33 range. (get the optional 7" bottom blower pulley)(More boost, more belt grip) The stock kit blower pulley set is a bit lame. Adding water methanol injection-intercooling really allows you to get serious with the blower drive ratio, boost and timing and power on pump gas.
Roots blowers love water-methanol injection. You will too.
3rd gen car exhaust" Blower motors move a lot of air. They need exhaust system FLOW. You can use a long tube or a shorty style header but the larger the tubes the better. Minimum primary tube inside diameter should be 1-5/8" or bigger. 1-3/4" headers is sweet.
Can be long tube or shorties but needs a big high flowing exhaust system behind it.
On a 3 rd gen F body a custom fabbed 2 into 1 w/Y pipe system -- 2.5" pipes into 3.5" system will get it done.
Flowmaster sells the Y pipe Y250350. use a Big single 3.5" in out muffler (MagnaFlow) behind the axle.
There is even room for (2) 2.5" mini cats to keep it clean and legal.

Re: Weian Supercharger & Mini Blowers
Relative carb height difference. If you have a SBC with a Performer RPM intake now, the blower carb will be 3.55" higher with the 142 Weiand blower.
