ngk nitrous plugs reccomendation

hey guys,

im getting ready to start tuning, and id like a recommendation on some ngk plgs. I have AC 41-629 in there now. I got a rock auto discount code, figured i.d buy a few sets to keep in my tool box.

sbc 383
afr 1095 heads
11:1 pump gas
comp cams nx288hr

after I get the motor tuned, ill be starting with a 100 and creep up to a 250.

there is a few things I need to change on the car before I get up to the 250 mark.
so im looking for a all around daily plug, and then at the 150 and up

Thanks guys

i ran that cam in my 350 LT1. ran great.
starting out with the 100 shot you could probably keep the existing plugs. once you move up i would swap them out.
are your plugs the washer style? if so im not sure what would be best. if it is conical seat, you could probably run a brf7. or maybe brf8 once you get over the 200+ shots.

Re: ngk nitrous plugs reccomendation

my plugs are pretty much spent from pulling the car in and out of the garage.
(14mm x 3/4" gasket) no tapered seat . almost everything on the car is new and untested, motor trans, rear. im just gonna start with the little shot and work back up.

I had a love, hate relationship with that cam at first. not enough vac to run power brakes, the amount of timing I have to run. but its sounds fast
lol. looking forward to actually putting a good sized shot thru it

thats odd, my power brakes always worked fine? pulled 11-12" of vacuum on a 350 with 11:1 compression.
if you need a new set of plugs anyway, i would probably stick some 7's in there. (whatever part number that is) now that i think about it, seems like this info is on afr's website somewhere? i'll see if i can find it.

looks like you were correct in your searching... i searched and came up with these:

R5671A-7
R5671A-8
R5671A-9
R5671A-10
R5671A-11

toss the 7's in there and have some fun.

I ran 32 degrees n/a and then pulled whatever timing I needed for the nitrous shot I had. Timing was pulled when the nitrous arming switch was on. I had 200cc cnc ported heads and a single plane intake. Fuel injected.

Re: ngk nitrous plugs reccomendation

Motor broken in yet? Ring seal seems loose if you are that low on vacuum at idle, assuming 1000 rpm idle.

Try 7 heat range ngk for up to 150 shot. 6 would be good all motor. 8-9 would be better on high shots 200-250
7 is ngk 4644. 8 is ngk 6587.

Re: ngk nitrous plugs reccomendation

rock auto has them for 1.55 per. in case anyone is looking for them.

ive got afr 1095 heads. a q750 and the airgap. I wont be going past the 150 til I get a single plane. ive got a 1 gal fuel cell and pump ready to go also.

running at 38 total and going to use a dial back msd box to pull 6

ive also got a snow perf meth inject kit on it. but I wont be factoring that in until I get everything else sorted out.

ill dig out my box of notes and double check all my numbers. ive moved twice and and had a house built while this car build was going on.
