If you are going to drive on the street daily the cheaper, 'smarter', quieter option is try to get a pair of cheaper, smaller pumps that will use less current while only 1 is operating, and will produce less heat in the fuel. The smaller pumps usually have anti-drainback (check valves) which promote daily driving activities whereas the 1-big walbro pumps do not (they need to prime from scratch before you start as the fuel tends to drain back to the tank after time). It will also be quieter (depends how quiet your engine is if you notice). Another big factor is how easy the pumps are to access, in some applications the tank is extremely easy to open and swap pumps around, making it less of a chore to try new things.

On the other hand, 2-pumps can be tedious and nightmarish to install if you are not a fuel system junky and familiar with the system works. If you are not up the challenge of running two pumps and are more of the 'keep it simple' (I prefer simple myself) then 1 pump to do the job seems like the best deal even if it comes with some additional drawbacks (heat and current draw). I Would probably try measuring the fuel temperature if I was really worried about it to determine if it was a problem or not, definitely don't just blindly assume it stays cool after 2 hours of run time.

 

The 255 is the only pump I know of that keeps the venturi tube. Lonnies sells a 'double pumper' that fits inside the 4th gen bucket. Go larger and you have to cut open the bucket. 4th gen tank is just a vast cavity with no baffling. The venturi and bucket is your friend.

 

will the stock feed an return line be ok with a 450 pump ? where can i get a a intank walbro 450 pump for a 88 iroc ?

im no expert but I had asked a similar question here last year when i upgraded to my 340 lph pump which will eventually be feeding a 550 hp NA engine along with a 200 wet shot.

I decided to go with a -8an feed line and a -6 return line along with the proper fittings.

i did this for peace of mind and because I was dropping the tank anyways to do the pump and wiring upgrade.

I'm running dual 450s in an LS1 tank. If I just have one pump on, it runs out of fuel around 10 pounds of boost. I'm calculating the dual 450s are good for about 1000 at the flywheel.
