kinda disturbing

Its kinda disturbing that sites like Yahoo can remove all of the color from their site, and put a large picture to commemorate 9/11 (being only color on the site) But this site has no mention of the date anywhere except your posting dates and times of when you post on the message board.

there's a whole thread about this over at 3go.

personally, i don't see it being important. sure, 9/11 is today, so what?

all it means is that there are going to be instances where you turn on the tv, change the channel, change it again, and again, and again. until you get so pissed that you turn off the tv.

the media has spent the past 3 weeks cramming all of this upcoming 9/11 stuff down our throats.

i've seen the videos of the planes hitting the buildings, and i'm sick of hearing about it also, as some people over at 3go have expressed.

edit-- a thought previously mentioned here was unrelated to my response. --end

however.. the media is trying to get us more sad or pissed about this, so we go buy more american flags, and t-shirts, etc.
it's a marketing scheme, people. it's an attempt to get you to bitch and moan about 3000 people who didn't have to die so you'll feel better about yourself. then the media turns around and doesn't give a damn about the same 3000 people it spent the last 365 days a year glorifying. they're ordinary people, just like you and me.

i'm sure if you were on one of the planes that day, you would have gone down fighting, like todd beamer did, as well as the other people who tried to take over flight 93.

i still make the argument that the united states was asking for this from the beginning. because we can't help it not to be messing with something. why do you think americans are the most hated people worldwide?

first off, this isn't a news board.

Dirk has chosen to leave 9/11 involvements off the board... its not a general discussion board, although there are regional boards... last year when it happened a lot of opinions were expressed and a large flamewar/debate ensued ... I doubt Dirk wants the same to happen this year...

Personally, I'm thankful Dirk and the others have chosen not to put things on the board about it... not everyone wants to remember it, not everyone cares like most people think they should...

Its about tech and thirdgens.
leave it at that and the board doesn't go into chaos

and, i would ask not to have anything 9/11 related brought into the regional board that i moderate.

if i wanted to read about it, i'd go read a newspaper, or watch tv

thanks.

It doesn't need to be beat to death. But it should never be dropped.

i hear you. my school did all kinds of stuff, and then i come home, its all the same stuff on tv. its not really irritating, its more depressing for me. the irritating thing for me is all the stupid kids at my school. the student council made paper chains(one link for every person that died) and hung them in the hallway. some kids were talking about tearing them down, and that just pissed me off. some people

I understand it is being beaten like a rented mule, but being in the northeast, I know many many people who pulled body parts from the rubble, or helped out.

Yeah alot want to forget, alot want to remember, its gonna be remembered, it is declared "Patriots Day" (which I didnt know untill today) But if we do forget about it, its just going to happen again.

Everyone that I have said this to has agreed with me, I think Clinton was one of the worst presidents, he pursued things untill it got rough, then let it go, forgot about it, like it never happened, like your asking us to do, and look where it got us 9/11/01.

We are the most hated people in the world, cause we have the power to control things, and when we do, we arent liked for it.

az:

how am i one horse's ***? can i have that order doubled with fries please? thanks

brian:

i agree that clinton was a bad president. that isn't the issue. indirectly, it is, but it isn't a direct issue.

i'm sorry, but there are some people who don't share as much compassion about the whole overdose on the tv specials. who gives a damn if they want to air specials about 9/11? i don't.

the problem is, as customx and brian have said, this has already been beaten into the ground, drug back up, then kicked back down. i'm sick of hearing about 3000 people that died. they're ordinary people, as are the volunteers who helped rescue and recover.

but that isn't my point. the problem is.... it's everywhere! you read one news paper, or website, there's a complete listing of all 9/11 events that were going on as if we're supposed to drop everything we're doing.

why is that?

edit-- i don't think this is the place to be having this type of discussion. let's take it to chat on aim or something.

my sn is rcguthrie8201 for anyone who wants to chat about it.
