Grammar

I've got a quall about the grammar used on this board. Although you don't have to use perfect grammar, please use something that a person can actually understand. Use periods and uppercase letters. I have been reading a lot of threads and I just simply pass them up because I simply can't understand what they're saying. I think it would be a lot more effective to use proper grammar as to get better answers. Maybe someone should make a sticky to tell people to use better grammar?

And I don't mean that people should be perfect with it, just something legible.

Seriously though, it has been brought up in the past and just lead to some flaming. I agree with you. People don't have to be perfect, but at least give it a try.

I just hope in the real world some of them write a little better than they type.

I agree as well. I love it when people are 2 lazy 2 spell out "too" or "to"

But there is really nothing you can do. Some people aren't fast typers so they take shortcuts to save a couple hundredths of a second.

I understand, but there really isn't much you can do. Some people don't know the difference between their, there, and they're. Or you're and your. Or too, two, and to. Or our and are. It is kinda sad, but there isn't any way you can force people to use proper grammar.

Most of the time I dont bother reading thru a post if it doesnt have decent grammer.
It would be nice if everyone would use decent grammer but for some people typing on a keyboard is hard. I know it use to be hard for me and I would use bad grammer because of it.

On the flip side of that though, I think shorthand done tastefully is just fine. The only reason I spell most everything out is I can type 60-80wpm. Having used chat rooms and IM's and other various internet communications mediums for so long using '2' for 'to' and the such became second nature. I've grown out of it, but it wasn't easy.

And isn't it funny that 'abbreviation' is such a long word? :lala:

I have no problem with short hand, as long as you can tell whats being said (like: thru -> through) and it does not look hack (like: to/too -> 2)

I usually type everything out because I can type pretty quickly, but I don't mind some short hand by people who cannot, like a few "technologically challenged" people on this board (No one in particular)

The only thing I can't stand is run on paragraphs. I can't keep track of where I am at. If I look at a post, and it is about two pages long with no paragraph breaks. I can't read it, because I get lost, and confused.

Am I the only one who highlights sentences or paragraphs that are all blended into one page?

Anyhow, capitalization, sometimes spelling Etc, is no big deal to me. I have a wireless keyboard and it doesn't always pick up all the words.

As long as it is all broke up into each subject I'm usually ok with a bit of mispelled words.

I can not, however stand "D00D yur car ownZ! yur a leet f00l!"

Now I am being paranoid of all my grammar!

Nope, I highlight so I can keep my spot.

And that thing 87camarodan posted is pretty cool, it seems to be true too.
