ses light only in "d" gear really strange.

Hello I have a 86 iroc z28 and I am having a issue. If I shift into overdrive and drive with the shifter slightly pushed twards nutral (still in overdrive) everything is fine and dandy. If its slightly pushed to drive (still in overdrive) it will pop a ses light after about 5min but when trying to read the code its gone. If it does turn on I can slightly push the shifter up and around 6 to 10 min the light turns off. But in drive gear itself the light turns on. But when I try to check it the code is gone. I had the transmission rebuilt not even 4000 miles on it 4 months ago. Just really strange and im 22 and know enough about parts but not the why it happens. The car runs great. Ive replaced starter waterpump accel coil whole tune up. New exhaust no cat and no smog all plugged proper and it drives really nice. Just issue in the shifter with slight bump ses light comes on but cant get code.

Sorry for grammar im typing on phone but I love this site and its awsome to do most reading.

Wow. That is weird. I got nothin' on this one. Some bizarre park/neutral switch problem, perhaps??

That actually sounds like a good theory. The switch itself is actually bolted to the shift mechanism.

You are setting Temporary Code 36 when you are fiddling with the shifter.

Re: Temporary Transanity

Was able to get the code to pop up then I quickly turned off the car and red the code seams to be code 24 when shifter is bumpted twards drive. That shows a possibility of vss.

True.

Code 24 is set whenever there are no pulses from the VSS and the shifter is in “drive”.

That’s normal.
