Classifieds alternative...

... until ours are up.

They'll put us up for a bit so we can give TGO a breather and they can concentrate on the boards first.

Please don't post your parts daily as I don't think they have the same bandwidth as TGO (not sure), but I'll find out. Maybe I can get him to post here with some info.

Thanks for the props RD.

I have plenty of bandwidth for now, so everyone is welcome to utilize the site as they need to.

Premium ad listings are $2 and the money goes to pay the hosting bill. You get a bold listing with 8 pics (vs 3 with the free ad) and the premium ad appears at the top of each category and on the main page.

It's Dirk and Iroc's decision, but i always thought that might work better for more reasons than one. It should help people see the classifieds section easier, thus preventing them from occasionally being posted in the main forums like they had been. It would also help those who also have problems posting into the old section.

i'm not on the same level as Dirk, but i had wondered if perhaps part of his decision to keep the two separated was so that the vB database didn't have to carry that extra activity, preventing further locking. The vB database is already large and busy as is.

For what it is worth, with some extra tweaks, that can be made to prevent replies from being posted to, if that was a concern. Furthermore, you can tweak the templates to allow form fields, such as Price and Contact information, making the data more uniform, and also preventing people who sometimes forget to post those details.

Tweaks or no tweaks, I think it is much better as it is now as compared to the old classifieds.
