problem on the suspension/chassis board

Evidence: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=345560

There have been two posts that I've been keeping track of (the one mentioned being my own) in which a member has posted useful information and had it deleted by a mod. That user claims it to be Ede, and I have no reason to doubt him. In fact, if what that member says is correct - his deleted information could have been directly helpful to my question.

I'm not sure why this is going on between a mod and a member posting useful information. Could an admin please step in and mitigate this situation before the rest of the useful information is deleted?

Thanks,
Jon

nevermind. It looks like a long history between that member and the mods.

I just received a PM from bottled, and Ede's attitude toward the situation is one of higher-than-thou and I'm-above-talking-to-you. I'm not going to post what Bottled forwarded me, as it's his right to post it. Let me see if I can explain some frustration:

Say there is a long history between the mods and this guy that gets his posts deleted. Is that any reason to delete one of his posts? The only reasons I see to delete posts are:

1) Post does not contain thirdgen related content
2) Thirdgen content is blatantly wrong or unrelated to topic/board
3) Post is flamebait or something that goes against the rules at thirdgen.org

This member's posts in my own thread contain valuable information that NOBODY ELSE POSTED. His info is important to me, it contains thirdgen content directly relating to my thread that is placed in the correct forum. Unfortunately, the guy comes off as if he is the only person who knows the right information on the whole planet - and so invites others to challenge him (as evident in my thread). While these kind of posts can and in some cases should be edited to remove the flamebait material - in no case do I see a need to delete information that he posted that is solely technical in nature. In fact if a mod is so high and might to think to do that - perhaps he/she should repost that technical information themselves.

I'm a senior member here, who has followed the rules to the best of my ability. I posted the thread in the suspension/chassis board because that is what another mod suggested in the appearance/detailing board in a sticky. In return I have an overly self-righteous (apparently from his lack of tact) mod delete the very info that I am seeking and take no responsibility for his own actions in response to an honest question from another member (bottled). What's wrong with this picture?

The issue is with a long time offender that refuses to stay away. He does not understand how to conversate without arguing and insulting others. If he just knew how to do this he'd be fine. We've tried everything with him but he won't go. There's even been times when Mods have tried going to extremes as in deleting everything he posts to stop him but it's alot of work. There were some mistakes made but we're working on it. Any issues people might have with ede (a take no nonsense Mod that works fast) should be solved because he is choosing to resign as he's had enough of it. For now at least.

the member in question (one who is being censored) does know A LOT about suspension, but he is a jerk. he uses his knowledge like a bat to hit people. the mods are doing the only thing that seems to keep him in check, deleteing all his posts and every name he creates on the site (at least 30 that i know of, many more theat i have not seen before banned) in an attempt to remove his bickering, mean, hatefull, childishness from this community. will some tech-info get lost, yes. is it worth it, absolutly. i can say, having witnessed alot of his antics in the V6 forum, that the moderators are doing the right thing.

ede is doing the right thing. if he is steping down as a mod that is a sad thing. he'll be missed by those of us with the ability to appreciate what this site is for; 3rd gen tech, not how fast your corvette is or how dumb the kid w/stock replacement brake pads is for not spending $900 on a complete willwood setup.

Well - whatever the history, the issue has been resolved. To the guy's credit, I PMed him and asked him to clean up his posts within the thread to reflect solely technical content. He did so - and there's very little evidence there was ever a problem now in the thread.

Thanks to the great admins and mods who run this site and keep it tech only

Dean will be Dean and he is not welcome on TGO. Granted he may know a lot about suspension but he is too quick to belittle other members and start wars. He thinks he knows it all yet lacks all patience and tact when posting. He is arrogant and rude and lacks respect for those that truly want to learn. We as mods feel that any information that he has posted can be found in other threads in the archives. There are so many knowledgeable suspension gurus on TGO that Dean’s contributions are not needed. Eventually he will get tired of his games and go away.
