Damn ive been dying without TGO...checking it like twice an hour...ive had to rely on my gf for entertainment without TGO

 

also attached images are missing.

 

It's from a windows based server now. It was the server that changed.

hahaha. i too was having some symptoms of withdrawal. My local f-body board is great, but just doesn't have the constant posts that TGO has... it feeds my addiction so well. I don't know what I would do if this site disappeared forever

1. TGO moved to a new server
2. TGO's database and activity have not played nice on the new server

Transferring to a new server is an involved process that invites problems. As you know, we've had some server load issues that Jason has been tracking down. There will be things disabled, and things that will need to be ironed out, until they can be fully resolved.

Problems / Help / Suggestions / Comments is the better spot for such questions and information.

 

Especially when moving to a Windows server...

Unix is better for a BB of this size in so many aspects... All I want to know is WHYYYYYYYYY?

Well it was already mentioned elsewhere, so yes, Dirk sold TGO to a new owner/company. As far as we know, no big policy changes are planned.

By the way, I'd like to know why you think it is running Windows? Last I checked, the new server was running Red Hat.

 

I have a feeling we will all have to pay a membership here soon to view the content in this site.

 

Disturbs you?

Dirk was one of the few founders of this website, and is one of the very few who is still around who had a large hand in not only its creation, but remaining around for 9 (?) years. Dirk did a lot of behind the scenes work to keep this website up and running for all of us to come to and get help, it did not run itself. Of course, the members and moderators also had a very large hand in it as well. I don't know all the details and I'm not really concerned, even though I contributed money myself. The fact that this website will (plans to) stay around in its current direction is the most important part to me, and I hope it is to others as well.

 

Please don't scare people with such comments. The owner/company in question owns other online forums, some of them being car forums. I've visited them and seen no such practice. I don't have all the details or answers, and anything is possible (no different than when Dirk owned the site), but I'm not aware of any such plans.

As well, Dirk was very concerned about TGO's future when he considered this. He spent the last 9 years here for TGO, to provide us all a place to come to. I doubt he'd doing anything risky to throw all that away. He plans to remain around, from what I understand.

wow i was about to die! with no thirdgen in my grauge anymore (at least for a while) i was with out tgo on my computer as well at least i found out that the only reasion i get online is for tgo and the only reasion my e-mail account is used is for the threads i subscribe to on tgo

I was dying without my TGO... but I like the new look and feel

 

I don't believe JD has anything to do with TGO, but I could be wrong.

 

Maybe I can't find it? I liked the option of seeing all the new posts listed instaed of going through each category.

 

That feature of finding new posts uses the search engine, which has been disabled due to server load issues. Once the search feature is ironed out, I would assume that feature would return.
