Oh man, please tell me it's not staying RED
Is it, or is this just a bad nightmare?
I know I'm only one of thousands of members, but I personally can't stand a bunch of bright red screaming out at me. I don't know if others agree, or if it's even up for discussion, but I thought I'd get my word out. If it has to be bright and screaming, at least make it Sunset Orange Metallic or something.
Everything else seems very nice, as usual. Thank you everyone who has helped keep this site up and running, and improved. It's come a long way from the old days even before UBB.
But RED?!?

Like anything, it's going to take time to get use to. I hated the new VB for a while, now I love it.
I understand, but red is one of those things I can't get used to. Call it personal flaw if you like, but I hate red. Aside from that, a mellow color is easier on the eyes. Blue is my favorite, but I like many other soft colors too (for forums, of course).
I hated UBB when they first switched over because you couldn't anymore see the reply titles or the replies to the replies, and so on. I hated clicking on a thread to see the replies, lol. Of course now I'm used to it, and it is better. This is different though.
I couldn't ever register on DSMtuners even though it is a great DSM website, simply for the reason that it is all red. That website looks exactly like this. I suspect that I won't be visiting here as often either, which may sound stupid, but I guess it's my problem and no one else's.

It's okay, but hopefully they will have more than one skin to choose from. That's a big plus of this version. Like LS1tech, they have several skins (my favorite is "DarkSide").
Are the user titles and Car, Engine, Transmission, Axle things coming back?
Maybe redo the user title system, so that members with more posts are more recognized

I'm curious about the "too much info" statement. In regard to the vehicle information? If so, that has been there since the vB 2.x and has been important to those posts who post requesting help, but may not mention the specifics of the vehicle, which could make a large difference depending on what the question/area is.

I like the red, it looks good, i like change too. The site definently needed this. It attracts more people if it looks good, even though the knowledge in the board is the same. Only part i dont like which im getting used to is the big font. The titles and what not seem larger so the page is longer now...its not that big of a deal and im not gonna complain cause im happy with the site overall. Id put a newer camaro in the front banner(pref an iroc or a 91-92 z) and add a bird next to it also though.

I've been a member of these forums for quite a while, and I've seen them change a bit over time (for instance, I remember the old classified section, YIKES). Busy and distractive? That's one intense case of ADD you've got there.
Personally, I say, make it whatever color you want. As long as I can come here and get the information I need/want, I'll keep coming back, and I think everyone else will too. The only changes that need to be made are those that improve the efficiency of getting that information.

I didn't do alot of research as to what other forums were doing. IROC pointed out to me the camaroz28 site and I agree it is similar in color. I was a bit embarrassed but I did put alot of time into this design and it's definately a fresh new look for this forum.

Yes it did, and it looks great. There are always going to be smiliar looking websites/forums. The only way to be original would maybe make it bright pink and lime green, but who wants that?

Which is why I suggested making a TGO Retro option for the boards so people can choose, many sites do this and JT and I are willing to take a crack at it.
I like the new look, (which would be the default) I'd just like the choice of seeing TGO how it was for 6 years again and I'm sure alot of others would too, I see no reason for it not to happen. All I need is a go ahead and we're on it.

Dave|Xoxide, I mean absolutely no disrespect at all to you. I love the new look ,too, and it's obvious you spent a lot of time and trouble doing the design...I guess I would just like to be able to enjoy the old look sometimes, too.

My
.When a site sells ad space everything would need to be the same on both skins, you wouldn't be able to go back to the old layout. In addition, because of the way that the site is now configured, all of the images would have to be the exact same sizes, othewise they would be streached. Fixed image height/width was implemented because it makes the site render faster in your browser and because Google likes it better.
The best you would be able to do is change the color scheme to blue, or something like that, and that hardly seems worth the time and confusion that would probably occur.

Use the same skin, just change the colors as you mentioned. Enough sites out there do it that it shouldn't cause any confusion. Unless you think the TGO members are idiots. Little button on the bottom left like many other boards. Offer Red, blue, black, etc. Shouldn't be hard at all now that the skin is done.

Yup, a simple TGO retro color change would be fine. Should be simple to do too.
I'm ALL for that, as my biggest gripe is the color (though it's not nearly as bad as it was when I started this thread). Even if blue is the only other option, many might find that option very accepting.
There are a few other gripes I have about the layout, but I suppose I'll keep them to myself and deal with them.
