Advertising Changes

Just to keep everyone informed, so you don't feel we are doing this without you knowing. We have added AdSense back into the front page and the forum.

BUT,

if you are a memeber and signed in this will not affect you. This will help everyone out. We'll begin to have more people sign up to remove these ads which will obviously make a larger community. And it will benefit us because it's been costing us time and money for maintenance and server cost.

We hope this is a happy middle ground for those that were opposed to all the ad issues we initially had. We have tried getting those advertisers that people said were out there but have had little to no success. If you still know people interested in advertising on ThirdGen.org please let us know so we can remove these adsense ads.

Yes there are ways of blocking ads from specific urls. But it will take a matter of weeks to collect the entire list of bad ads that google decides to display.

You know what else was my idea, along with the persuasion of JT.... vBgarage. Everyone needs to post thier images there so I can start building the gallery on the front end. I have added 2 cars so far 1990 and 1991 camaro. Lets get some Firebirds in the mix.

Here is one I would block now. Seen it more then a dozen times.
Don't want new folks coming here just to jump off site. Unless you know them guys.

Camaro Tech: 1982 to 1992 Chevy Third Generation Camaros.

I do alot of adsense publishing and what not. I am curious how many unique visitors this website brings in daily? I have given up my stubern ways I don't mind the advertising.

This is information that we provide if you look in the nooks and crannys

135,000 page views / day
3,800 Unique visitors / day

and those numbers are way under rated since we have SEO'd and upgraded vB. Now we're working on the front end so more users can find information easily.

Also, members see very few google ads during a normal visit. So I'd say 1/4 of those numbers is what is triggering the adsense.

eh yeah thats a decent alternative to the ads. at least this way people will be encouraged to sign up, and i don't have to deal with that crap while im lookin at the site.
