tried using the search drop menu when the K&N ad was up and I couldn't because the ad was over the drop down menu.

 

To narrow it down, I have a few questions that pertain to when this occurred:

1) Was you logged in? Or was you a Guest?
2) Which forum was you visiting (Appearance & Detailing, Tech / General Engine, Firebirds For Sale, etc.)? Or was this on the main index page?

 

It happens to me on any page while logged in when certain ads containing graphics appear.

 

Aperion, can you provide me with a screen capture? We had made some changes several weeks ago, so I'll look into this if I can see this. I have not been able to duplicate the issue.

 

I'll grab one the next time it shows up. 99% of the time I get text ads from Google, it's only when it has graphics that it's a problem.

 

Its pretty annoying, cant search because of the spams in the way. Not trying to be a smart @ss,but who gets paid for the spam?

Heres my screen shot, Keeps redirecting me to that site when i try to click the search box.

 

Websites this large are expense to operate in the form of bandwidth, hardware and software. Websites this large do not run on your $9.99/month web hosting. As well, for over 2 years, TGO has been owned by a business, and like most, there is some profit involved. But that's not really what this topic is about.

JT, the side ad on that also covers the "Search This Forum" search box, too...

Ha, caught it again, but this time it was "Search this Thread" I attached the screen shot.

 

I do web design, so I'm familiar with the process. It just seems that it used to be all thirdgen related like everything else here. Now if you look on some of the main pages the thirdgen stuff is smaller and at the bottom were the newer ads are more aggressive and displayed larger and in more than one place on each page, most of the time moving the old sponsors down the page further towards the bottom. Thats really the only reason I mentioned it and called it spam.

My ads have been the same since I joined, Spohn on top and ads by google on left side above TGO's affiliate sponsor ads.

I havent seen anything other than these my whole time here at TGO...so is something wrong with mine?

 

It's not really about "web design" as the where and what in regard to advertisements are researched and decided by the advertisement department and their management. It's not exactly up to us, other than some input.

The ads did change - yours included - because it's a global change and not individual accounts or themes. For example, the Spohn was not always on the top, and the ads on the right side (google and TGO sponsors) were different. Some of it was seamless, back-end, changes atleast 1 month ago.

Back on the original subject, thanks for the screen capture, and thanks Douglas for reporting that similar issue. We are looking into the issue.

I just noticed the k&n ad and I tried using the search and I found the same problem, fyi

 

I think is worse now, because i cant even get around it anymore. I have to wait to catch the spohn ad before i can search.

 

Still an issue - any update ??

The K&N Add is covering the search window on EVERY board that it is displayed on. Seems to be an issue with that specific add only - at least in my experience.

 

It isn't just the K&N ad, but ads that are flash based - which the K&N ad is. I'm waiting to hear back from the advertising department to see if we can opt out of certain ads to resolve that issue since it's not an easy fix.
