Some have vats in 88, if you post the letters on the memcal or prom I can see if I have the file to check to see if it has vats . If it’s tbi it wouldn’t have vats some tpi did. Another way to tell is if there is a blue wire in pin b6 of the ecm if it’s tpi.

its factory 350tpi roller. Does the non vatts have the small white wire on the lower column. I will look to see if the ECM is even in it

If it has the white wire it should have vats.
I think there are two wires in a orange sheath at the bottom of the column

ECM long gone. To the far left there are two white connected to one white and one orange.they look a little big. On column there's a black sheath wire with 2connectors with about 4 wires leading off them. I have had some cars with vatts and don't see any wires like I had in them

If your going carb you don’t have to worry about it. If you do find the leads you can ohm them to see the stuck keys resistance.
You can buy the matching key and cylinder on eBay.

Re: Anyone know off vatts in 88 formulas

To answer the history question, 1988 GTAs, but apparently not all, received the VATS. Formula and Trans Am was not part of this until 1989.

Here's a good Pontiac Distribution Bulletin from GTASourcepage about that:

John's website also notes VATS coming to the Formula in 1989:

Re: Anyone know off vatts in 88 formulas

I tried to use a non VATS ignition lock on my 89 and it didn't fit properly. It was too short and would also not turn back into accessory.
