Grab a rare earth magnet, tweezers, or needle nose pliers and try to pull the old cable spur out of the gear. Might be able to poke it out with a wire from the back side, but I'm not sure the hole goes all the way through.

I tried to pry it out with a small flat head and needle nose pliers but only got a couple little parts. Im gonna take the housing off in the morning and see if im able to poke the rest of it out from the back of the gear
