BUMPER SWAP 91->82-84

Hello everyone, new owner of a 1991 Firebird (base) here. The bumper and front fender ground effects are damaged and so needing replaced. My question is, what, specifically, is required to swap the bumper to the 82-84 vent style? I've heard you need to swap to the older headlight assemblies, i've heard it was optional. I know i'll need the old turn signal housings. Also seen on here you need to change like the bumper absorber i think to the old style? I'm just looking for what parts i'll actually need to buy. I found the 82-84 polyurethane bumper for 200. So what other parts will i need to purchase and what other work will need to be done for it to bolt up and fit to the car?

I have another question also, in the picture below, what exactly are these trim/ground effects pieces under the bumper in the below picture? Or where to find them? i want them to go with the rest of the car but i cant find them anywhere nor know what they are called. Are they stupid hard to find and expensive? Just these little spoiler things in front of the wheels on the front fender and the small trim piece running along the bottom of the bumper.

Any advice on either of these would be greatly appreciated. I've looked at some previous posts on here but im just seeing if theres any more detailed or specific info i could get by making a post myself.

Ok thank you. Any idea what that would cost ? The price to beat is like 900 before paint thats for the 91 effects and bumper.

The lower ground effects are difficult to find. They're unique to trans ams from 82, some 83s and a small amount of 84s. There are numerous KITT replica companies that have these unique ground effect for the front and back. You don't need them for the front end to go together though.

okay thank you.i just wanted the ground effects to flow better into the 91 ground effects on the rest of the car. I found this on ebay, would this be ther "complete" set for the front of the car or is there another piece that goes on the bumper?

Re: BUMPER SWAP 91->82-84

If you have the rest of the factory GFX, that tells me you have the W68 appearance package. I don’t think it would look good combining the two designs, squared off look of the early front bumper/headlight design with the later ‘91-‘92 style GFX on the rockers and rear bumper. However, if you’re changing those as well, then disregard.

But, I would have to ask why?

I would just get the front bumper/front fender GFX you need for the later style. You will probably even save some money without having to replace all the inner parts that you would need to convert to the early style. The ‘91-‘92 front bumper, with W68 or not, is a great looking design so I don’t know why you want to lose that for the older ‘82-‘84 style.
