Need help finding employment in Houston
I'm getting anxious. I went to a lame job fair today, have registered at 3 staffing agencies, and have sent out close to 30 resumes. Does anyone have ANY leads at all? Home Depot wouldn't even hire me!!! I know that this isn't thirdgen related, unless you consider the fact that I may not have a thirdgen if I don't get a job soon! Anyways, I appreciate any help. I have a college degree, and can write, work on cars, do construction, etc. My wife needs a job, too. Thanks guys.

you have to be kidding us!
Houston is the 4th largest city in the USA.
from the looks of your sig you might be helpfull in a speed shop.
especially if speak English and Mexican ( Spanish has nothing to do with how
Mexicans speak). Besides those speed shops usually have dumb *** kids running around in them, it would be nice to have some sort of knowledgable person around to assist. It looks better to employers if you already have a stable job, besides you might meet an owner that thinks you are the one he needs to head up his new sales team.

Kinda depends what degree you have. The Houston IT field is overly flooded right now.....Enron, Compaq/HP, and others have ruined it.

I can speak some Mexican, but my Spanish is better
. I'm not sure about the speed shop thing. Would people hire someone who has no professional mechanical experience? Unfortunately, I have a pretty lame liberal arts degree. I double majored in philosophy in English and minored in math, so I have good analytical, math, and writing skills, but hardly any technical experience. I worked for an engineering firm for a summer, and know my way around Excel and Word, and a little photoshop, pagemaker, autocad, and filemaker.

I know for a fact that Katy Independent School District is ALWAYS in need of subs. My mom subbed for them for 2 years, and she doesn't have a B.S, just 2 yrs of College. She now works full time for them in the work-room. You're bilingual, so that's a HUGE plus on the west, and southwest sides of town.
Somehow I managed to break out of the Auto. Tech feild and into IT, feels so weird working in the A/C.. not wanting to take 12 showers as soon as I get home.

I may give the substitute teaching a try before the unemployment runs out. Thanks for the suggestion...if you come across anything where you work that you think I could do, I'd appreciate it if you let me know. Thanks again!
