Everybody Please bring your camera!
Remember that the feature article in "Crusin Times" will come from the 2005 Fall Brawl meet. We will probably need to supply the pics, since the person who will be doing the article, may not be able to actually make the meet.

Anybody up in the Katy/Cypress area wanna roll with me to Baytown the night of the races? I promise you won't be embarrassed.
Also, does anyone wanna come hang with me this Saturday night up at Sam's Club? I'll be up there around 8 with my beast.

Heck we were thinking about going out to the Champions Forrest show (see the recent Sam's club thread). Even though they don't let anything newer than 79, show in the show area, 300 cars is something I'd like to see. A couple of us here on the board already kinda talked about going out there, but plans do change, and I'm more concerned with getting the word out to as many thirdgens about the Fall Brawl.
There was only about 30/35 cars at Sam's last week. The last official show out there at Champions is Nov 12th, so the car count should be back up to normal, for our mass cruise to Sam's Club at the Fall Brawl.

Well, I'm out. Less than 20 days and my car is still not running. Got to hear the starter crank and the fuel pump prime, but without spark and fuel, it aint going nowhere.
Perhaps next time.

Fuel, air & spark, at the right time and right proportion.

Hey dude--everybodies welcome. We have members from young to old and everywhere in between. We even had one recent new guy named Mike (MMroc86) that bought his car before he was old enough to get a drivers license! How old U are does not matter. The fact that U own and enjoy a thirdgen does!!!
If U don't come out just for that reason, I'm gonna come out on the streets and find U and drag U to the next one!!!

PS, I'm gonna put your name down on the headcount thread for Sat--U better be there Dude!!!

Really though being a teenage puts you in the minority considering most of the guys that come to the meet are 30+. I myself and 20 and there are a couple more guys around my age in the group. If you can come you should, you’ll have a blast.
As for me I am doing my best to put my car back together now, and I am planning on making it to the picnic.

U see, Richey.....were not ALL old farts.....just some of us!
I'll make U a deal.....I won't make U listen to any Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd (which one's Pink?), Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Deep Purple, or Jethro Tull, if U don't make me listen to any rap or hip hop music.

Tell you what, you can all listen to my bee box muffler instead
It looks like the turbo MAY just be on in time, so I won't be the slowest guy there (I don't think I was the slowest when I had the Vsex either though...).

I got my '82 on my 16th birthday. So I was younger, and I've had it for over 23 years. I don't think anyone here can beat that.

I haven't ever had my Camaro out to HRP before and was disappointed that there was no place there to get a N2O bottle filled. I had hoped to have a chance to open a bottle and see what happened...there is always next time.
This was also the first time I ever raced on non-AutoX tires. I got to break in a set of ET-Streeets (26x11.5x15). To tell the truth I was a little disappointed by how much they helped my 60' times. On the Auto-X tires (Kuhmo VictoRacer 245-45-16) I could get 1.8's pretty consistently, even with lots of spin. My best 60' with the ET-Streets was 1.7x. It is an improvement, and I didn't spin, but I was hoping for a 1.6. In hind sight,it probably has to do with the ET's being a 2" taller wheel.
My rear end gear really isn't low enough for drag racing. As some of you know, my car is set up more for Auto-X than drag racing. My 3.31:1 gear, combined with a 3 speed transmission isn't a very good drag race setup. I think that the taller tire cancelled out a lot of the benefit I should have seen from the extra traction. On my best run I was BARELY out of 2nd gear at the end of the 1/4.
In addition to all of that I ended up short shifting. I need more practice, my reaction times were "sleepy" to be kind. I didn't stall the tranny up enough and I shifted 500-1000 RPM early on my best run. If I had taken it all the way to red line I MIGHT have been able to finish in 2nd gear. So I know the car is capable of doing better.
And even with all those things being less than ideal I (well, the car really did all the work) still ran an 11.89 @ 114.
I know that isn't anything spectacular to a lot of 4th gen people, but I'm pretty happy with it. Considering that my car, when new, couldn't do 0 to 60 in that amount of time, and that even now drag racing is not really what it is set up for, I am that much happier with the results. Plus, I believe that when I work out a few more problems I will be able to knock another 1/2 second off of that. Then, if I fill my N2O bottle, I think that my car, which never wanted to go drag racing in the first place, may be flirting with the 10's.
So, to conclude this LONG story, the car is running better than ever, I am happy, and the best is yet to come.
Details of my best run:
1.738 60'
4.938 330'
7.602 1/8
92.54 1/8 (still in 2nd gear)
11.892 1/4
114.02 1/4

I am extremely disappointed in myself for not being able to make it to HRP or the meet today. I had had some mechanical difficulties with my car all week. Problems with the harmonic balancer and the transmission. Even if it would've been fixed in time, I would not have been able to race it Friday night like I wanted to. With the harmonic balancer being as bad as it was and me driving it for as long as I did with it being the way it was, I believe it knocked the bottom end out-of-whack.
Oh well. There will be other meets. I hope everyone had a damn good time.
Now..
I'd like to start building a 383 stroker for this beast. Anyone have a 350 block or a 400 crank up for grabs?

Well, I tried to post a pic of the Sunday Meet/BBQ, and I get the message that says that the file is too big. I have no idea how to reduce them to the correct size.
I have a whole bunch of pics , so if somebody can to whatever is necessary to post them or post them on a web site , I can email them to U.
Let me know!
