Looking 4 good paint shop

Hello everyone? How has everyone been? More importantly how have your cars been running?lol

I finally got enough money together for a nice little paint job, now I just need to find a good place to get it done. So far I've only been to one place and they quoted me 1200 for everything. Its pretty cheap but sometimes tells me they don't really do quality work. You know how it goes:You get what you pay for and I want something good! Anyways I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place, I remember craig told me about one a couple of months ago but I don't think I got a number or anything like that. I would really appreciate the help......

do a search on this board for paint shops - I listed one a couple times a while back (that I can't quite remember the name of right now) that I've had 2 cars painted at. Both cars were incredible. My family has had 3 or 4 cars painted there total.

I'll attach a pic of his latest work. The owner's name is Anthony.

1200.00 is pretty cheap in this day and age. Most quotes are 2000.00+. U are right, usually U get what U pay for, but maybe this guy/place is just getting started and needs the work???

Where was that quote from--include all prep work--was that a laquer/clear coat job?

The only place I can recommend is Vilvian's. I've seen several cars done by them and they were excellent, and they have an excellent reputation. Check the phone book.

What are the main things I should be asking when I go to these places? I am gonna check on both Vilvians and Tony Soto's place tommorow and I will let you guys know how it goes. Appreciate the help........

They do alot of show cars, the guy owns the place did work for Ferrari for like 13 years... his work is better than any i've ever seen. He quoted me 2500 for a "flawless trim off, teardown" paintjob on my Old Camaro. You should visit his place...alot of higher end cars adn snazzy imports.

Some of these low price paint jobs like U her of on tv are straight enamel with no clear coat. Do not hold up as well--do not look as good to begin with--don't have the depth /shine to the finish.

I'm sure no expert, but whenever u are pricing ask what all the price includes as far as prep, primer coat, type of paint, and how many coats of paint and clear coat, and compounding/wax afterwards..

A few years ago, there was a guy in the "Private Installers index" that is stickied at the top of the page here, that offered a discount. Look and find and call and see if it still applies. (after U get a price quote)

Arturo's, in Texas City. Did a lot of work on my very custom F150. It took a LOT of time (black), but well worth it. Will scratch around for phone and a photo if you like.

great

That would be great, I have not had a chance to check out Vilvians yet. Hell I could'ent even find the number.I went to Unlimited body and the guy said it would be around 2100-2400

Would like to bring that down to an even 2000.00.

I have not had a chance to check out the one on Aldine either. But I will get around to them.

Just for reference my paint/body work/etc. cost about 2600 and was well worth the money. He's got by far the best looking paint jobs for the money - and he's as honest as they come. I had gone to pick up my car and he let me look it over. He pointed out a few spots he wasn't happy with and asked if he could keep it a while longer to get those ironed out. I said sure. The results were amazing.

If you're on the border between a shop wanting 2000 and 2400...then go for Unlimited. I've also got a buddy with a 91 GTA down there getting his in for paint this summer.
