Looking for 3rd gens for Texas State Fair Show
Hosted by Texas Fbody Association:
So far we have about 10 3rd gens, and we are looking to get around 20+
This is a heads-up for those whose cars are ready and those whose cars might need a little TLC in order to come to this year's 4th State Fair Fbody Day on October 20, 2007!! I would like to feature the older cars this year, and I already have about 8 or 10 1st gens that want to come. I would LOVE to have AT LEAST THAT MANY 3RD GENS OR MORE!!!
We will have a more centralized location this year (north of the lagoon), so your car will get a lot of attention and exposure!!
I will be posting more information as the date gets closer, as well as the release forms that have to be signed, but I just wanted to give you guys an early invitation to get yo' rides ready to show!!!

This is at the State Fair, corrals are located north of the big pond, by the GM Building.
The State Fair is at Fair Park in Dallas.
If your car is in the show, you will get free admission to the fair.
I will supply more details as I have them.
You can watch this thread for more info as well.

State Fair Fbody Day Celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Camaro!!!
Come one, come all to the 4th Annual State Fair Fbody Day on October 20, 2007!! This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Camaro, and to show respect and appreciation for our heritage, Texas Fbody Association will be featuring Camaros and Firebirds from 1967 - 1992 as our very special and honored participants!!
So let’s get this show on the road!!!
FIRST AND FOREMOST are the rules, which will make this as good or even better an event than ever:
1) All participating vehicles must be in place before 9:00 am and remain until after 6:30 pm. No vehicles will be allowed out of the gates before this time.
***We stay for the whole day.....no one gets blocked in (remember you and everyone in your car/tow vehicle get into the fair FREE, so go enjoy the day!!!)
2) Under no circumstances shall a vehicle be started or driven between 9:00 am and 6:30 pm. The Fire Marshall can write a $600 ticket for non-compliance.
***This is so we don't have to disconnect our battery cables......just keep yer keys in yer pocket, darlin'!!
3) The corral gates shall remain CLOSED to the general public. Only Vehicle Owners will be allowed inside the corrals. Any other persons entering the corrals MUST be accompanied by the Vehicle Owner AT ALL TIMES.
***Joe Schmoe and his 14 kids do not get to "try out" our cars like they do in the AutoBuilding…horrors!!!
....oh....and we get our own Police Officer too!!!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CORRAL LOCATION HAS MOVED
You will need to enter at Martin Luther King Gate (Gate 6) @ Robert B. Cullum Blvd. (instead of Grand Ave –Gate 5). From there you will take an immediate left and follow instructions into the Corrals.
Here's the plan:
Corral C - 25 1st Gens in front; fill in with 4th Gens
Corral B - 10 2nd Gens in front; fill in with 4th Gens
Corral A - 15 3rd Gens in front; fill in with 4th Gens
ALSO!!!!! Mr. Scott "Fbodfather" Settlemire will again be our Special Guest, so get your questions ready for him ….and don’t forget about the concept which will be on display in the AutoBuilding!!! Scott hasn't told me yet which concept we will be getting, but I'm sure whichever one we get will be AWESOME to see in person!! There will be trophies again this year, graciously sponsored by North Texas Third Gen Association, so get yer vehicle all purty ‘n shiny and let’s have a fun day at the Fair!!!

Although I am from up north I would love to see some pics of all of the thirdgens and of the 5th gen too. I had the pleasure of seeing the 5th gen at the Chicago Auto Show and you will be in awe. Just the site of it has convinced me to buy one in 2010. You will love that car.
Please post pics for all of us to see and drool...

I just retired from the military and moved back to Fort Worth. Are you still looking for cars to show at the fair? If so, let me know. I can be there with my 91 Z28.

Re: Looking for 3rd gens for Texas State Fair Show
I would have come out to the last one if I'd known and I had not been at Texas Motor Speedway. I ran 9 laps for the Laps for Charity event they had. Most laps were slow, but I had a Cavalier in front of me and couldn't keep up to speed the last set of laps. By the time the pace truck waved me around I had a half lap to catch up to the rest of the cars. I hit 125 in the back stretch and kept up to 105 in turns 3 and 4. They had Mustang and GTO clubs there as a group. May want to think about it as an even tnext year.

very cool. I thought you had to keep it at or below 80...
I have thought about doing the Laps for Charity thing myself. It has come up as a possible GTG for the group as well, it just hasn't played out completely yet.

Pace truck is at 75 but you can lag a little and hit it hard. Just don't lag too far or the pace truck will pull in front of you.
