you cant diss on all imports out there i mean look at the AWD Turbo cars like the talons, eclipses, and evo. those cars are pretty wicked its the hondas and scions that really get on my nerves not to mention the rotary cars revving to 9k at the track in the staggin lanes. Oh by the way anyone around orlando im going to run tonight at OSW this fine *** weather i just cant help myself most likely the last run of 06 for me so i must make it good. Mike and iwantiroc look for me if you decide to come out Later Daniel

Heh not a fan of those powerbulge hooded ricerockets. I will say though its hard to beat lancer evo's and miata's in road racing. The only things I dont like are the honda's and 99% of toyota's(especially the idiots that think the old celicas are fast... the only toyota I liked were the mr2's). I do like euro imports, one of my favorite styles are the triumph tr7's, and the 16valved sunbirds, not to mention the buick opels(my friends uncle is restoring an MGB theyre nice but theyre no Austin Healey).

You know it's funny, I was reading a mag while waiting for a tire repair on my pickup and saw FWD hondas just broke 8seconds?!
RWD converted hondas just broke into the 7's....on 4CYL!

ok Tony it can never to cold at the track thats what makes it so good to go! now the money thing i can understand.
and firstfirebird like i always say its amazing what a supercharger or turbocharger will do to any motor it really wakes them up. theres a difference between an import and a *****. the big winged, **** talking, really it slow but they think if you buy a 17 second car and make it a 15 second car you have done something and that so not true. i bought my car bone stock all the way down to paper filter and throttle body coolant hose hooked up trust me stone stock as it gets and it ran the worst of 15.3 to 15.2 when i got it and i have all the work done in the sig not to mention this is all still threw the factory MAF and ecm, and prom- no aftermarket chip or MAF. and i just went to the OSW on friday night and ran these times.
60'- 1.814
330- 5.417
1/8- 8.411
MPH- 81.71
1000- 11.028
1/4- 13.246
MPH- 101.70
and this is using factory heads too just alittle port work and a set of M/T DR's im extremely happy i have a set of vortec heads that have been ported, headman LT's, cuts-outs that im going to be putting on soon then im looking for the 12's man! i cant wait. see everyone later

I'm in Jax, but I can be to Orlando speed world in about 2 hours. Any of you guys run there besides Dan87gta?

If so, I'll come down on a Sat in Jan or funday Sunday and meet up and let's run.

Nice times/improvements, dan! My car is/was bone stock, click on my garage and see...
Haven't had time to take pics of the turbo yet, but the intercooler is on the way (daves12secv6 is welding new end tanks on it now) and the new powdercoated throttle body is in the mail...
I'll be starting a thread soon to report the progress of the install, I'll keep you guys posted...

That's cool. We need to get alot of 3rd gens meeting up and running at Orlando, since central Florida is where everybody seems to live.

I'm usually the only 3rd gen running on test and tune nites at gainesville, unless it is dedicated race car.

^^^Isn't the track SAFER than the streets?!
I like this idea of getting together at Orlando as that is 2.5 hrs or so away...
Moroso (West Palm) is about 1+ hrs away...
BUT I've heard that a new track is being built here in Broward (somewhere off 27 I think).

Patience, patience my friend! Why do it twice when you can do it right?
Better it was caught now instead of working for three passes through the traps!

It seems like there are more people around the Orlando area than North Florida, so that's why I mentioned Orlando.

Same to you, have a safe holiday! Orlando sounds good, we need to come up with a date far enough in the future for people w/busy schedules. I've got a construction company and four kids, lol.

I took a quick read through that, I didnt spend too much time cause I am still working on reinstalling my software. I reformatted my HD to see if I could get rid of some of the game crashes Ive been having. When you get ready to start work let me know.

K, if I don't have this thing done by Feb 6, I'm going to have to wait because I'm having shoulder surgery and I'll be down from 2-6wks.
So hopefully, I can have all the parts soon anyway.
You only need to read the first post anyways, I keep editing it as I get parts.
Sorry to hear about your p.c!

My dads been sick and I spent tuesday/wednesday at a lan party, so I havent had a chance to go to the shop to check on the car. My laptop was having some problems where I tried to give a big screw you to AIM and delete the autostartup, but it backfired and left my computer running diskcheck everytime it started. I finally got irritated after a kernel error in windows explorer and decided it was time to clean house.

Yep, gotta be cautios about what you install. Seems like if you don't check the right options as you install, some of these programs will take over (i.e. realplayer which I had to un/re install twice 'cause everything tried to play through it).
I'm gonna try to get more pics on the Turbo 660's thread, but bunches of people are trying to tell me to watch out for the e-bay turbo I got.

At 500$ a piece for a new motor in your car(at most from a GOOD junkyard) I wouldnt really worry about it. I really dont see any problem with it, any fool can put together bearings springs turbines and a casing. If your really worried about it put an inline filter somewhere behind the turbo incase it goes to bits, and start putting some money into a garrett fund(and if it still works in 3 years put that money into a 454 with weiand blower on top).

daves12secv6 has got 20,000+ miles on his, and still going strong. In fact he's building a new v6 now that's gonna have TWO of these on it.
Good lubrication seems to be the key with turbos.

I would actually perfer Bradenton over Orlando. My mom lives there and I'd have a free place to stay, but Orlando is closer. I lived in Bradenton for 13 years and used to go to DeSoto Speedway every Saturday. I have a picture of me in the pacecar with Bobby Allison and Gregg Sacks holding the American flag during the Star Spangled Banner. I later got both of them to autograph it!

Im down going to any track near here. Im ashamed to say it but the only track i have been to is OSW! so i really want to go to gainesville or bradenton. i have a friend who has run out there and loves it. of course anything is better than orlando but when it 15 mins from the house its hard to turn away. thats why i got my DR's and im pulling 1.814 short times leaving at 2300 RPM's i found 2500 was to much! lets set a date and go! Later Daniel

Not as of right now, the cars still not running(i got pictures see below)
Stainless steel valves got stuck in the guides of one of the heads during the attempt at first startup. The shop pulled the heads and replaced it, should be running soon though. I've never hauled a trailer yet, when I remember to I will begin practicing with a boat trailer in my yard till I get comfortable pulling one around. Other thing is*cough* Ive never been down the track before *cough* so I would like to get some runs under my belt before going anywhere distant.

If you look closely at the bottom picture you can see where the D-cutouts on the pistons smacked the valves.

i'm am putting new fans and freshening up the cooling system to survive the suck asz traffic on 60. you cant even get into the mall to go to target for simple ****, its stupid! i drive back to tampa or new tampa for alot of stuff...sad.
anyhow i would be down for a track meet. bradenton is a 45min. ride for me, when i would drive the gta i would use a 1/2 tank just to go 70miles ahhhh the efficiency of EFI
i would like to do it after i get a few more things addressed like a new tq arm and subframes.

Isnt february right around your surgery? And, you ever gonna come take this tank outta my yard?
But in regards to actually going, maybe Im not gonna make any promises and it depends on whats going on with school(the hard part to making long term plans).
Spent today running around trying to find OSPHO Rust Converter, finally found some and got up and drowned my car haulers' roof in the stuff(not literally it wasnt that bad but with the heavy rain some of the pinholes were starting to become trouble). Tomorrow I gotta get in touch with FAU about a screwed up grade, and paint that roof if it doesnt need a second coat. Maybe I will also get time to go to the shop and take measurements for my hatch firewall.

Technically Im a junior this year, but since I moved from UM up to FAU and changed majors(AND went into a 5year program) I am running a little bit behind. I started out as Marine/Computer Science, but switched to Ocean Engineering when I came to FAU.

Good luck on your exam!

Update: I went to the shop today to take some measurements and guess what. The car is running now, not tuned yet but they cranked it and got some bugs worked out, it sounds fantastic. Deep, loud enough to vibrate the shop, lot of airflow(standing 10 feet behind the car and you could easily feel it). After having some trouble with the holley carb we are buying a Speed Demon that one of them had put up in the shop. Let the car idle down low and seemed to run very nice.

Theyre gonna put the MT ET Drag Radials on the draglites and mount them soon, and hopefully they'll put the frontrunners on at the same time. Now just waiting on my dads friend to finish up the cage and make an adjustable seat backbrace. Left to do on my list is: make rearfirewall; get windshield redone(my sisters friend is doing it once we have it home again); close up all holes in cabin; mount harness and connect the seatback. And everythin will be set to run.
