Miami here. I've had this car since 1992:

86 IROC w/L98 and 91 conversion (I did the conversion long ago...and now I wish I had the old IROC kit still on it).
I went back to school 'cause I need a career change. Once I'm out, I intend to rebuild her. Needs a bunch of stuff (motor / tranny / body / paint) but I'm too attached to the car to get rid of it. I'll probably fully restore the thing once I graduate and start working on it. It's currently parked with a blown motor.
(I've also been on this board for a while, mostly lurking.)

Alright guys, the rain should go away and it will be nice tonight and all through the weekend! I will be out there tonight, and its a good chance Ill go to Old Town again on Fri. It was cool out there last week Lots of cars, only a few 3rd gens. though so we should fix that!
best thing about old town is its FREE to enter, and they do the "parade" down main street.

ya sorry fellas that makes two of us i got plans tonight wont be able to make it out. hasnt been a good week. a dumb *** at work forgot to tighten a wheel on a truck sitting on 33" tires and had a wheel off so he no longer has a job well guess who has to take his place so that means cant go down to ft. meyers to put the heads on so i call justin to tell him that im just going to pick up the car tonight and he says cant happen! as he was welding the metal got so hot it melted the shifter cable and welded the cable to the floor board and held the trans between 4th gear and neutral causing it not to put all the fluid to 4th gear as a result in ****ed up the rear sprang meaning has to be taken back apart and rebuilt again the it only hurt the sprang thank god! so he is doing that tonight and putting it back in and thursday night im going down there and all day friday we are going to put everything on but the heads seeing how we dont have time to do the heads and exhaust cause i have to work on saturday, so friday ill have her back thanks god that will make my weekend. and im going to put the heads on a weekend that i can get off early and saturday that way it will take the weekend to do it. sorry so long just hasnt been going good and had to vent. but next thursday is my B-day so hopefully next week will be awesome cause ill have my car back to just go cruising. see everyone later on take it easy! Just to let everyone know NO! i dont have my car back yet! and its nobodies fault i was going to pick it up but a couple of days before just called me up and said dont bother coming down cause the car is not moving and i said WTF! whats wrong and he said the brand new $300 450HP horsepower converter took a **** so needless to say i had to send it back and after fighting on the phone with PATC about who is going to pay for shipping to IL for them to look at the converter and he paid for it and a couple days of shipping and them looking at it they said the clutches were flaking off and the linear was peeling back so they fixed and now it is getting shipped back to me. so he should get it back any day now and put it in and then i should get it back minus the heads and exhuast unless i go down there to do the exhaust but im not going to do the headds yet! Later guys hopefully see you wednesday Daniel

so i posted in the general engine area but now i will post here for my local guys. yesterday my car quit running, battery problem, tried to get a jump with no luck then see a little bit of smoke coming from the vents, so i take out the battery and get it tested, dead, come back with a new one and put it in, turns over real good but no fire, take off the air cleaner and notice that no gas is coming thru the injectors, so im thinking fuel pump problem, if anyone has somewhere for me to start looking please let me know.

when you turn the key to the on position can you hear the fuel pump prime. if not i would almost gaurantee that its the fuel pump. they seem to be a common prob.in these cars ive changed mine 4 times. good luck

Well you should hear the puel they are pretty loud i can hear mine at idle sitting in traffic and its stock (just waiting to go out so i can put a high performance one in) if the look underneath the tech articles you should find a way to bypass the puel so it will run with the key off its a way to test the puel. Does ot turn over really easy but just doesnt start? Another thing you can do is pull off a spark plug and see if it has fire. just to check. good luck

well i read a post on here that someone posted and he had the same problem i did, so i found a fuse that was next to the battery and it was blown, so i replaced it and it fired right up and then quit again fuse was blown and once again smoke coming from the dash, electrical smell. so i took off my dash pad, nothing there, took off the lower dash panel cover on the passenger side and could smell electrical problems very well, well come to find out it was the ECU module, unplugged both harnesses to it and took it apart and it was fried, nice and charred. did some search on ebay and found someone who had them, they were called virtual bodyshop, called the number they had listed and he matched the same part number i had and it cost me 104.00 shipped, should have it in a few days. hopefully nothing else got fried.

got it running
well my ecu came last nite, put it in and fired right up, no problems, went to take it for a ride but couldnt, headlights wont come on. so im messing with the hi/low switch and then my hi beams come on, but low beams wont come on. would it be the headlight switch or would it be the hi/low switch on the steering wheel.
