Heh, Delray Beach(southern palm beach county) finally finished the wiring today hopefully it will go into the shop tomorrow to be cranked and tuned. So close to being done but so much left to do.... Really bites haha.

Here cause Im feeling pretty good after 8 hours sitting in the car fighting with the wiring:

First one is a the new trailer. Second is the engine about a month and a half ago buckled up for the most part. Last one is a pic under the car(cant see the Moser 12 bolt).

I go to help out my brother-in-law and watch races, one day soon Ill be out there racing myself though. I was just up there this last saturday and will probably go to next weekends Mopar show. Kinda sucks that citrus nats got rained out saturday night and sunday. Classes or the unbearable heat makes everything take 3 or 4 times as long as it should.

I was on vacation last w.e. Mopar show THIS sat?
I'm thinking of going next Fri(12/9) so I can see what 140hp can do hehe. My turbo will be here next week and I plan on being in high boost by the end of Jan. So I want to get a stock baseline for my car to see what kind of gains I'm getting.
Gonna crash (gotta work tommorow), we should hook-up and trade manhours on our cars - I'ts always nice to have a second pair of hands around.

Mopar show I have down as being december 10th. Next friday is 12/8 heh. As for the man hours its a little late for that heh(unless of course you have a spray booth and dont mind loaning it out ). If you do decide your going out there and you know in advance give a post cause I will see if I can make it. Maybe we can start getting some semi regular friday night moroso meets formed on the forums.

Anyone know NHRA regulations regarding sagging doors?( Specifically doors that dont appear to be closed but arent gonna come open going down the road? Asking in reference to my work truck lol not my thirdgen.)

Nah its not running yet, hoping to have everything completely done(see below) before january, also hoping the car goes into the shop this evening if not I gotta wait till next friday. My truck runs and would probably give decent times for full stock but I dont think theyd let me run it with the door the way it is. And my daily driver is definetly not going on the track haha, poor 2.0 sunbird converted to z24....

Short rundowm of time left:
Drop off at shop that built engine
-Distributor and wires in
-Fuel system finalized
-Trans lines run
-Welder to finish roll cage

Get it home
-Make doorskins
-Sand rollbar/mask off car
-Spray cabin
-Detint windows
-Remove windshield/repair rust along top edge
-Have autoglass installers come out and do their thing

Somewhere in there I gotta rebleed the brakes and reflare on of the fittings and check the rearends fluid level... Darn gasket moser put in there leaks and didnt find out til after putting 40$ worth of fluid in it.

I thought you said just the spray was left? I've got someone in my pocket for your entire list! Can get windshield for about 200 installed, have welding equip in my garage, along with the flairing tools etc...
Anyway, who would want to mess with my lil ol V6, HMMMM?
Like the idea of some thirdgenners going to the track on a reg basis, is it mon, wed, fri for "run what u brung"?

Mostly fridays and and some saturdays. They have wednesdays but those are a little bit tough with school and work for most people(theyre only once a month too I think).

Im gonna do my best to have my car together by this friday but not positive, if Im lucky it will be running by the end of tomorrow. If it does go out there it will still need paint, since running on a tight schedule I will probably just call safelite or something and have them speed out to the house and put it in. I have the tools to do everything and probably will get access to a booth when I need it(not worrying about it till after its been down the track a few times).
Oh and as for a welder, thanks but my dads good friends with a professional fabricator and my dad wouldnt use anyone else.

Anyways after I meet you if you need help just give me some notice and Ill probably be able to make it, Id like to help you out on that turbo. What kit did you order? Remote mounting it? Where you gonna mount the intercooler or are you not using one? Doing anything else during the duration of the project(bigger injectors/larger fuel pump, lowering compression, changing the ignition system)?

Hey everyone check out this deal I got at the swapshop last weekend:
10$ for a set of Moroso Ultra 40 wires NIB

Didn't order a kit, the only one I've been able to find is from daves12secv6 here on this site - but I'm into the fabrication.
Not remote mounting, going in front of the eng.
Undecided on the intercooler yet, I gotta get under my car and remove some plastic and take some measurements. Actally considered air to water cause of there being no grille for air movement.
Bigger injectors comming, fuel pump is big enough for now with a regulator change, compression is going to stay @ 8.9, eventually new ignition.
Aside from the bigger injectors, for right no=w I'm concentrating on getting all the stuff I need and on the car running (prob like 7psi), once it's running I'll work on getting in high boost.

Well didnt get anything done today(no too many people showed up and saturdays are mostly do what you can yourself and lets all hang out) so car probably wont be ready for a few weeks depending on how buisy they are during the week. Goodside is I get to clean out the trailer and get a full toolset stashed in there, once thats done and the cars buttoned up Im set to go.

As for the turbo which one did you go with? Water cooled might work well(reason I asked about remote mount is because that solves most of the problems with low airflow through the enginebay).

Thanx wdm! Getting a grant, like you said - thinking of using some 4th gen seats and console - haven't decided yet. Had some time yesterday to do some planning. Think I found an intercooler, it's a same side charge/discharge here's the link...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FMIC-27X11X3-Turbo-Intercooler-Mustang-280Z-Eclipse-RX7_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ013QQitemZ230060990977
or even this one...
http://http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FMIC-Turbo-Intercooler-3-5Core-1-side-Eclipse-RX7-Talon_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ013QQitemZ230051144565
The chaper one actually flows better, but I don't know if I like the way the in/out puts are angled, but here's where I mocked it up...

Florida thirdgens-intercoolermockup.jpgFlorida thirdgens-intercoolermockup2.jpg

HaHa, I know it's not a real intercooler, but the box my R/C helicopter came in just happens to be exactly the same size...

P.S. wckddudeman, was that a 6er you pulled from your car, and if so what did you do with it? I could use some practice heads and intake for porting.

Nah it was a tired troubled 305 from the previous owners. The 6 cyls are pretty common up at the pick and pulls on southern blvd just west of the turnpike and I think its somewhere around 30 for the heads.

Hmm that may block alot of airflow, not too sure since Ive never messed with using that area as a mounting location. 2 suggestions one get an aftermarket fan for the rad(will pull more air through and around the engine) two is get a minifan(like on the nicer trans coolers and stuff) and mount it on your intercooler to make sure your getting the most out of it.[Note: I now see you have an electric fan so you might not need to bother changing the one on the rad at all depends on how cool you like it to run]

Oh and by the way thats one cool helicopter, you fly regularly? I used to do RC cars before I started fooling around with the real thing.

Yeah, haven't flown much since the 'bird though haha! That was one of the hardest things I've ever done (building/flying r/c helis).
I plan on bypassing the fan relay so it comes on with ignition. Also going w/a 160* t-stat and an old hot rodding trick by drilling a 3/16" hole on the brim of t-stat. If that doesn't work, I'll use a bigger radiator.

Mine runs consistantly between 160 and 190 now, let the wife drive it today without the ducting that runs air roud the radiator with no problems. I got the car with no coolant(only h20) so I think I'm doin fine. Plan on a flush this weekend, only had the car since sept and put less than 700mi on it.
daves12secv6 says with the fan switch and the intercooler in front of his radiator hasn't seen over 180, but thats also in new england...
Since mine's "ONLY" a v6, I can see about a foot of the ground between my rad and eng.

Hey wckd, don't know if I'm gonna make it Fri to Morrosso. The wife was using the car tonight and left her stranded on the Turnpike. Just got towed home, I think i'ts the ignition. It starts but doesn't run good and stalls when trying to drive (miss firing horribly). Gonna look at it in the morning, might take it to my buddies shop if I can't figure it out.

Ok, I might go out but not positive.
Let me know what happens with it hope everything turns out to be alright. First thing to check is the spark plugs wires, if theyre worn their shorting to the block or one may be off and causing it to jump and misfire. If not it might be your coil or distributor.
Hopefully the car will be running tomorrow(everythings done except for a new throttle bracket to get the car running). Hopefully my welder will be free soon to finish up the cage so I can finish mounting the seat and the harness.

Hey, Jax FL here, just joined. Have had a few Camaro's in the past, then went the truck route. Currently have 1969 CST-10 truck that's just about sold. Looking to buy another Camaro. Thinking about a 92 'vert. Always wanted a convertible living in FL!!
Nice to find a place with so much info and conversation.

Gald to see some more Floridians here.
Just remember to use the search function so we don't read the same stuff over and over

Nope, it ran out of gas!?! Apparently my guage is having a problem, in the past if it got near the yellow area I was empty. Now just under 1/4 tank is empty.
After checking my codes, kept getting 33 (low vac). I now realize because of the extra air going into the manifold was acting like a vacuum leak! Reset the computer filled it up and it's fine - just have to use the 1/4 tank mark as empty for now (till I get a new sending unit and pump)

You could always get a gauge pod(for on the apillar) and a autometer gauge. It might be the fuel gauge on the cluster, you could also try picking a new cluster up at the junkyard but then you could run into other problems... I got a tank here at my house with what used to be a good sending unit and pump if you want to pick it up.(I dont really want to be transporting it since its still got gas in it and its no longer grounded).

I probly do that (mainly for the sending unit) But the pump is going to get upgraded soon anyway. I'll only want to pull the tank once.
This comming week I'll be working in Miami, although most of my jobs are in West Palm so I'm sure I'll be back there probably the end of next week. Looks like I'll be starting the Miami job tommorow and you know how traffic is - I'm def not gonna make it to Morrosso in a reasonable hour.
Want to see your project (I'll have to take my truck so you won't see the 'bird yet).
Would you need me to take the whole tank, or can I just get the unit?
As far as the gas I've got a bunch of cans from the hurricanes last year, hehe. So transporting won't be a problem.
Send me a PM if you want with your telly number, but I won't be able to make it 'till the end of next week.

Thx for the replys.
I live on the westside of Jax.
I'll check out that site. Sounds cool. Itchy palms shopping for my ride. Can't wait to get rid of this truck. She's a beauty and all but nothing like a nice camaro.
Thanks for the "search" tips as well It does seem a little difficult to navigate this forum. There's a LOT of boards.

Hope you enjoy these boards, ignore the cranky old members when you come across them. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. Oh and for selling a nice truck. HAHA. I like trucks but my dream daily driver is a 72 or earlier el camino(trying to find one with a good body/frame cause I dont care about the engine).

Trust me, I have enjoyed it for 5 years, but it's time to move on. I might regret it later, like I did when I sold my 68 camaro about 20 years ago . It was my first car and I was tired of messing with it. It was a dog, but what I have spent on car payments since then it could be cherry sweet. Man what I would give to have that car back!! I thought a new car you wouldn't have to mess with but to make it better, not just keep it running. Little did I know!! That's 1/2 the fun.
Anyway, nice looking ride you're working on.

Too bad a 90 v6 turbo 'bird didn't qualify as an import, hehe.
.
.
On another note, I got my TURBO today! I'll post some pics tonight before I polish the intake side of it. I'ts a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be!I already have twin turbos sitting in my garage that I never finished rebuilding cause the one I just got was $170 delivered to my door, and a rebuild kit with quality bearings cost about $100 EACH.
