Motor Swap in Progress

I should have my motor and trans out of my car this week sometime. Already started ordering new parts for it. I figure while its out why not build it a little? So I've decided to get a new fuel pump, cam, lifters, springs, timing chain, full exhaust(finally). Should run hell of a lot better in my new firebird. Cant wait to take it to the track. Ill post pics as I take them to keep you all updated.

We're (DRD) doing a cam, nitrous and intake swap into my car if anyone wants to help! It's going to be on the 17th and I'm buying food. PM me if you want to come, it should be a good time.

Well this weekend I'm gonna have the motor and tran pulled out then have the car hauled away somewhere. while its out its getting a cam and all installed. next step will be to pull the white car in and pull that motor and just throw it in the garbage. and install the new motor. i figure it should hopefully be done by the first of june HOPEFULLY. We'll see what happens though.

yeah *cough* chris *cough*. hehe Soon we will all be faster! I'm kind of in control of all of it too. Seeing as how his motor is in my garage and the only way synapsis is getting his motor done is by using the rabbit to transport it. I control you all!

Ummmm, yeah. I know how many people with pickup trucks again? 4 of which are within 20 feet of me right now?

Hell... I'll just rent a U-haul pickup and go jump it before I return it.

Hey guys,
I can't do the swap and stuff where it was originally planned, so could any of you help a third genner out? We'd be doing a cam/intake and possibly nitrous swap into my car. I'd buy beer and pizza for those who went. It would hopefully be on the 17th or any time that weekend.

Tony

uhhh, by motor together I mean the short block ready with the pistons installed, the oil pump clearanced, ect. Setting up the valvetrain geometry, degreeing the cam, finding TDC.........all that will take at least a few more days off. I expect to have the motor COMPLETELY ready for install no earlier than 2 weeks. Still waiting for Josh to buy my RPM intake/carb/heads so I can buy my Super Victor intake.

Hey eric, instead of spending $$$ in gas and breaking our backs trying to pull my rusted lanky old engine stand out of the dirt in front of my firebird, take it apart, and reassemble it at your house (possibly a day long project in itself) why don't you just borrow Arlo's FOLDING cherry picker??? I already asked him and he said it was cool. I just don't feel like moving my cherry picker out from my firebird cuz I need to pull my motor out like now anyways, and will need to reassemble, blah blah blah. Lets get arlo's. Can I get to your place by like 8am and start filing my rings and stuff?? I really want to get that short block together at least, thursday is my only day off.

I bet you Arlo says, "Well you borrowed my cherry picker, which if you rented one would be X$... so you owe me...."

For anyone who cares... engine is totally finished now. I'm cleaning up my tools and reclaiming my dining room.

I got my cam broken in today. And I learned that spring loaded pushrod tubes suck... hard....

Once I replace the tubes, fix 2 leaks, and change the oil (and figure out why my idle circuits are rediculously lean)..... it'll be onto the 250 mile breakin period. w00p

Gotta quit thinking like a domestic, AutoZone doesn't stock 99% of VW parts.

Those are Bugpack dual quietpack mufflers which I need to keep the O2 sensor hot enough to dial in the carbs, then we switch to the straight pipe of utter obnoxiousness, and a 8 hp gain.

This weekend its finally coming out and getting a new home in my new firebird. If anyone is free this weekend let me know I could use the help. I just have to rent a cherry picker then I can start. Should take an hour to get my old motor out and then a few to get the v6 out of the car then just drop it in the motor mounts and I'll call it quits for that day. Let me know, Thanks

Mang don't be renting anything, Arlo already said you could use his. I'd help you this week but I'm supremely strapped for time since I need to fix my saab or lose my job. WAs almost late to work cuz Nina's car had some crap stuck in the carburetor.
