driveshaft question
will a 2.8 driveshaft work on a 91z28 or are they made weaker or sumthin? and the 2.8 has 323's and the z28 has 273's, are the v6 gears made weaker also or what? thanx
i am not completely sure, but i think i remember that all f-body driveshafts (82-01) are universal. You could probably find an aluminum ds off ebay for about $130.
As for the gears.......

No, it will not. At least from what I understand. From the info that I have, the v6 fbodies had 2 peice driveshafts and it will not work on the v8 cars. Now if it's a 1 peice unit, then it might but I don't know for sure.

measure the driveshaft from end to end and do the same for the other if it's the same tranny length (700 R4 and T-5) and they're the same length then they'll interchange
no the V6 gears and rears aren't weaker... all 10 bolts are weak to begin with

the z28 has 273's and the v6 has 343's,i am thinkin bout swaping the gears into the 91 so itll have limited slip w/ 343's... the v6 driveshafts one piece, both cars are manual

3.08 and numerically lower ring gears are thicker then 3.23 and up. You may be able to get a spacer and use the 3.42.

on the other hand i doubt the driveshaft will work

shawn, gotta go talking smack again dont ya....all i gotta say about that is check your fuses.haha. well im sure the shaft would have worked, their the same length and everything.but i wasnt sure about the strength. and i know the rear end can be changed. just the strength issue.... i dunno,i think ill just rebuild the rear in school sometime and change to some 373's..

they have a lot of common parts just laying around. mostly exhaust stuff. they can get you just about anything on order. i went there to see if the machine shop was open today. it closed 3 weeks ago so they sent me to another place. it's on indian school and 9th street.
