I "special" made a tool today for the last PITA manifold bolt. Me and my brother took a craftsman 9/16inch socket and stuck it on his lathe I also snagged an extra long 9/16 wrench just in case. Be there in a little bit hopefully we can finish this sucker soon. I want to hear the car with the new pipes installed.

Made good progress today. The new heads are on, the L98 cam is in and the Hooker Super Comps are on. Nice and shiny.

Having a bit of a problem with the 4 center bolt holes on the intake. But we will get it sorted out tomorrow.

Should have it put back together late tomorrow afternoon.

How much he chargin' ya for the cam install? I may want to enlist his services as well....

Luckily I got to hear this car before any work so I'm really looking forward to hearing this bad boy after you guys get that thing put together! Maybe sometime early Jan. I'll be able to make it out to the pavillions and see it!!

I hope we will have it running by then. Hit some snags after it got all put back together. Fires up but does not want to stay running. We will get it figured out eventually.

Lol, if you had it running on the first try it would have been amazing! I don't think I've ever seen that happen! When you get it all done and detailed I'm getting a 5 megapixel camera here in the next week of so and I'll come get some nice artsy shots for ya...

Not to sound defensive.....but I know I did everything by the book with the install, timing is set at 6 degrees initial and car idles good, it wouldn't do that if the distributor was 180 degrees off. Its the EFI that craps out when it switches from open to closed loop.

I agree with Chris. I think its either EFI or vacuum. We will find out this weekend.

If it's a closed loop problem, unhook the o2 sensor and the ECM will stay in open loop until you plug the o2 back in.

That's simple enough for even a knucklehead like me. Thanks. I will give it a try.

Do not go running around town in open loop, it runs the motor lean unless you modify how open loop fueling occurs.

idle is fine though

I would not run around town like that. I would only use it for trying to get the car back on the road.
