The moog front end finally installed after much cursing.
I ordered a Moog front end rebuild kit, a full set of springs, and greasable 36mm swaybar bushings from Spohn. I also ordered some KYB struts from Summit, and I *finally* got them in today, after 8 hours of cursing and knuckle busting.
The first things I pulled off were my struts. I undo the bottom bolts, then the tops ones.. then I pull down on the strut to take it out of the hole. The shaft pulled down, and never came back up. I've been driving with only springs up front for TWO YEARS. Going over dips and speedbumps is 200x better now. The front end doesn't bounce at all and it's really tight.
I would like to proclaim my hatred of balljoints. Luckily for me Dennis had an air hammer with a pickle fork attachment to separate them, and even then it took 10 minutes. Then trying to take them out took 45 minutes with a different attachment because my ball joint "service kit" was apparently not meant to remove, only install.
I took off the steering linkage in one piece in order to keep the measurements handy, since I replaced it all anyway. Now with everything free, it was time for the springs. This is when I learned my spring compressor was the wrong type. Dennis' idea was to jack up the A-arm, wire tie the spring shut, then jack it back down. We still ended up shooting the springs out with a prybar. Then the rest of the swaybar came off, on my sternum. Ouch.
Installation was reverse of removal. Not. :P With the springs out we pressed in the new balljoints. Then it was time for the springs to go back in. A few of Dennis' friends came over by this point and reminded him the he has a spring compressor! Better late than never, the springs went in with a little more prybar action. In went the struts fairly easily, then Dennis and I double teamed the car, I put in the steering linkage while he did the spindles, then I tightened the spindles while he adjusted the linkage. There's a *lot* of slop, and it pulls a little to the left, but not bad for a tape measure.
My car now has a nosebleed stance. I'm hoping all this stuff will settle in sooner or later. If you order the Moog front end kit from Spohn, it will come with everything you need, including hardware. I'd recommend it to anyone getting ready to replace the steering linkage.
I'm going to eat my pizza (forgot to eat today) and pop lots of Advil for my aching back, shoulders, knees, etc...
Next week's episode: Fuel pump, Injectors and Stealth Ram... stay tuned, they show up Wednesday.
Here's a before and after pic.

How much better are they than the RS springs? If you still got those slicks could I get a package deal?

They're stiffer by a couple hundred pounds from what I hear.
I offered to give the wheels/slicks to mrt89rs if he can deliver an engine I have stored at a friend's house, and a certain whiteboy's transmission to me. If that doesn't go through, the slicks will be up for sale again. I'm trying really hard to get my spare TPI engine in my possession. :lala:

Arlo told me he works during the week. I got his new number, though.
Got the car aligned this morning, it feels odd to be able to whip a 90 degree turn and not have the front corner dive into the turn. Now I just need tires. Sergio was supposed to sell me his, obviously that isn't happening.

Check spohn.net. That's where I got it from. It was a couple hundred if I remember right.
And since I'm posting... here's this week's toy:

I decided to trial fit everything so I won't get stuck with my intake off and needed retainer clips (I don't) or something. Here's what it looks like.
