Car troubles

Problem: Car dies when more than about 1/4 throttle is applied, or if i coast the car up to speed, after it hits second gear if not before it will cut out a couple times and die.

Car starts normal and will sit at idol fine. Only once i do the above will it die.

Car Facts: It does have the original fule pump. There is no check engine light coming on. Has a new cap and rotor, new plugs and wires, new ignition coil, new alternator, new battery, new ignition switch. Changed the fuel filter about 1 year ago.

Ideas: I have a feeling it is the fuel pump but im confused by it. If the pump was going out why would it start and idol? Wouldnt the car have more trouble starting? I am not thinking it is something electrical due to the fact that there is no check engine light coming on.

Anyone have any ideas or input that could help me trouble shot this. Need to get her running so i can make it to the BBQ

Updated the Car facts above but ill state it here too. I replaced the fule filter about a year ago. I have done a couple fuel injection cleanings and i know the injectors were replaced right before i bought the car whcih was just before i did the fuel filter. Its got about 3/4 tank of 91 oct gas in it too, had to check that to make sure i wasnt a dumb a$$ lol.

Thats going to have to be the next thing i check when i get home. I need to go buy a fuel pressure guage and check it before the filter and such. What pressure should i be reading when i check it?

depends on where you check it. even then it shouldn't vary too much.

well ill check it before the filter incase the filter is whats clogged. If i have some low pressure before the filter than i know that the pump is going out right?

What was happening on my T/A was when the fuel pump was going bad it would quite when it would get hot. It would start and idle fine, but after about 10 miles or so it would quite. May be something like that with yours.

TPI fuel pressure should be somewhere around 47 psi. I think I read that on the boards somewhere.

Well this is about how it went. Yesterday i was getting on the freeway heading back home from frys electronics so the car was pretty hot at that time. I was getting on the on ramp and while i was accelerating the car cut out then came back like nothing was wrong. I kept driving and nothing else happened the rest of the day. I woke up this morning and started her up and she started normal. Got out of my apartment complex fine, no problems, then when i went to make a left out of the complex she cut out and died. I started it right back up reved it up a little and seemed ok. Put it into drive went to go and it went fine. I got to about second gear and the same thing happened. So i started it again and tried to get her moving and from then on out any time i pressed the gas more than i would say a 1/4 of the way in she died or if i coasted slowy and got to 2nd gear she would cut out and die.

If it was the SES light would come on. Unless it's unplugged, burnt out, etc..

Well i did the fuel filter last night and things seemed to be better. I drove it around the block slowly then when i got on it again it cut out. It seems to be driving better, im not sure if its cause i let the car get hot or cause i replaced the fuel filter. I was going to buy a guage but when i saw the price i figured i might as well take it to a shop and have them diagnose it for the same price. Now i just need to drive it somewhere or tow it lol
