Noob in NM

Hey, all, just wanted to say hi from southern New Mexico. I own an 85 Firebird 2.8L w/700R4. I also own a 00 Grand Prix GT. I'm not really lookin to do anything to restore or beef-up this car for a few years, but I'm sure I'm gonna have a few questions. Lookin forward to get to know yall.

Hey rick,
This is a great website for any 3rd gen issue. If you need something answered specific to the area, I'm in Alb. and would be glad to help.

Take a look at the Albuquerque Journal on Sundays. I see 700R4s on there from time to time. Might mean a road trip though.......

Re: Noob in NM

I thought the 700R4 meant that I didnt have the electronics required for a 4L60E. The short answer is no. The rest is: I can put that tranny in my car without spending gobs of money? Also that I havent considered doing that retro-fit due to compatibility with my 2.8L engine.

Re: Noob in NM

I just noticed you needed one for a 2.8. I'm running a 2.8 now but am going to a V8 this summer. If you haven't found a one by then, mines perfect.

Unfortunatly for me, I'm gonna be gathering the cash this week (since I'm back ion town), and sending Belen off to Gonzalez to get rebuilt. I really appreciate the offer, though.

Re: Noob in NM

Hey, all, Steve from Dee's Transmissions (in Cruces) just picked up my car this afternoon. he had said he thinks the god awful noise that yall havent been told about sounds like the flex plate. Hopefully this is true. he said to call tomorrow to find out what the damage is and she should be done by Tuesday. More to follow.
