headlight motor stopped working (this is when i wish i had a camaro) and took it apart, and found the malfunction!

one of the little brick things attached to the wire was in 3 pieces. the other wire isnt too far behind either. anyone out here have the knowhow/equipment to help me fix this? i'm done buying tools and parts for this thing for now. gotta save to move back home. its gettin hot here. snowbird life is tricky.

Looks like it just needs to be soldered. I would help you but my soldering skills are less then desirable. I bet Jason could solder that up for you in a quick sec if you went up to his place in Wittman.

Re: anyone out here able to help me fix this headlight motor wiring?

Yeah it doesn't seem like a material that can take a solder, or it would be fixed by now. The motor is good, thought it needed new bushings, but either needs lube, or the 'bushing' cap thing on that first rod is bad. I saw an 82 with both motors in, and I know I can't use those, but I'm on my way there to see if I can use the brushes from it.

Sorry, I do not know much about birds. That looked like cooper wire to me in the pic.

i got one from an 82, but it's gizzards were way different, but thought some jimmyrigging could get it fixed for now. on a hunch, went to a different yard, found what i needed. putting it together now.

got some new fogs, and actually came across damn near mint carpet. 13 bucks. boohyah.

Re: anyone out here able to help me fix this headlight motor wiring?

there were a ton of camaros in the yards this week with good fogs... i can grab one for you. you need just the light or the whole assembly?

picked up a new passenger side for mine yesterday. but you can get the ones for mine at walmart apparently. but its still a win, just not an epic win.

Edit: just remembered camaros have the lower lights in addition to the fogs. Oops. With that being said, I did not see any fogs that I recall.

Yeah, Un-damaged camaro fogs are rare. If you see any in your exploits at the yards, pick them up, I will ALWAYS buy them off you.

Hey, that carpet I grabbed, I was going to go back today for the cargo part, but left the tools at home, I believe I should only need a screwdriver to remove the plastic trim to pull the carpet, right?

I will check for the fogs today if I only need a screwdriver.

Re: anyone out here able to help me fix this headlight motor wiring?

i was going to grab the whole motor, but forgot my wallet at home that day i went hahaha, so i just grabbed the gizzards, and hid the rest till the next day... but then i found the motor from an 89 the next day. so it's all gravy. the old ones had 3 wires, compared to my 2 wires. shouldnt have been too hard to figure out. but now i just gotta worry about tapping that bolt now instead.

I dont suppose you would mind sharing which junkyard you were in? I'm kinda always looking for misc. interior parts that are better than what I have. There havent been to many F-bodies in the ones I've been going to over on the west side.

i have 2 that i go to regularly. i go to the one on 27th ave, the yard the next door south from ecology (they have the water tower) and i like the yard on buckeye, and 25th ave maybe? it's sign is the vw bug on top of the truck.

if you have a TA, the yard with the bug sign has 3 or 4 firebirds now. the insides are pretty gutted from what i recall (if they werent gutted i would have gotten more stuff hahaha.

there's the AZ partout thread in our regional boards, check that out, and post what you are lookin for, and i'll keep my eyes open, and the other guys will too.

PRETTY GOOD CONSIDERING WHAT I HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST FEW YEARS. DASH IN MINT CONDITION. ( WEIRD ) GUNMETAL PAINT OK . NEEDS MINOR HOOD WORK. 5.7 ENG RUNNING VERY GOOD WITH SLP RUNNERS A/T AVG -NO RUST --GLASS TOPS-- LIGHT MOTORS GONE ( OF KOURSE ) COMPLETE WITH MATCHING NUMBERS ON DOORS AND BODY . CORRECT WHEELS. NOSE GOOD. WHEN I GET MY CAM FIXED ILL POST PICS. DOOR BUSHINGS TRASHED. ( NOBODY WANTS TO PULL THE DOORS. THATS THE FIRST THING I DID WITH THE IROC. )
