Got a new car!

A 98 z28, white with t tops. 6speed ls1 with soon to be 3.73's. This is a definate upgrade to the 90 toilet bowl injection i had. I really wish i could have gotten a 3rd gen but 5k for a 90k 98 ls1 i had to take. When i move out i will buying another 3rd gen but no room to park it now. I'll post some pics soon.

Sounds like a good deal for $5k, you might want to put those 3.73's into something beefier that the 10 bolt though.

its a cheap fix. I have to pay back teh 5g's and then will doing some suspension mods. Once the suspension's up to the task, i will get a moser 12 bolt, head and cam swap, fast 90 90, and full exhaust. Im looking for a 11-12 second dd. This is all after i won the lotto of course.

Yup, the LSX platform is definitely a much better starting point than the Gen I SBC.

Congrats, but you realize you're a black sheep, now? As penance you have to write "Thirdgens rule and 4th gens drool" 500 times and bring it to the bar-b-q.

well im not looking to mod the engine for a while actually. I want to get a good stereo, nice wheels, and suspension mods first. I want a good cornering car before anything else. Then I'll do engine mods. And from what I've read in chp, patriot heads and cam with 1.7 rockers for 2500 gets 506 at the flywheel. That would be fine for me.

LS1's already have 1.7 rockers

I have a 98 M6..

you need to join up on www.LS1tech.com, there is a lot of info on that board that is useful.. just pay no attention to the "Nothing beats an LS1, its GOD" people..

yea you are going to need a lot more to get 506 then just the heads and cam. Your car still has the ls1 intake so need to upgrade to a ls6 or fast. Going to need some long tubes, ported tb.............but hey theres a lot you can do with that motor, just start reading and you'll figure it out.

damnit im not a noobie, the test was through longtubes and an ls6 intake. When i get the money together im going to do a patriot 5.3 stage II head and cam swap, but need to look into patriot heads a lil better. they seem to have a waterjacket problem. Then im going to be doing a fast 90 and nw 90 tb with hopefully, DON, custom made shorties out a mufflex 3.5. I am on ls1tech all day everyday. Hey, does anyone tune ls1's here? I think i can gain from a lil tuning. I know they come rich from the factory but my car also idles a lil high.

Thanks for the help.

by the way, it was 506 at the flywheel, which is definetely possible with a head and cam though an ls6 intake, tuning, and long tubes. Thats why i figured even with 18% loss, i could get 400 at the wheels, especialy through a 90 90.
