Meguiar's in search of a red thirdgen

Hey guys, I'm a Surface Care Specialist here at Meguiar's in Irvine, CA. We are currently looking for a bit of a "project car" to do some work/experimenting on. I don't know exactly what our guys are looking to accomplish but they've put the word out that they're looking for an early to mid '90s Camaro or Corvette (I don't think they'd mind a Firebird, so don't think we're being prejudiced here!). The specific request reads as:

early to mid 90's red Camaro or Corvette that is in "fairly" rough condition. It needs to have oxidation, stains etc on it, especially the hood.

The car needs to be local (So Cal area), so we can have it in our Irvine, Ca training center for a photo shoot.
I'm not sure why we're asking for a red one, but we are. Please note that "fairly" rough does not mean rust on the hood, and clear coat failure isn't really what we're looking for either. But if your paint looks old and tired then you may be just what we're looking for. If you think you have something that fits the bill, or know someone who does, please either call me at 949-752-3875 or email pictures to me at mstoops@meguiars.com

Re: Meguiar's in search of a red thirdgen

Funny thing is we normally love black cars around here so I thought it was odd that the request was put out for a red one. Can you email me a decent picture or two? I'll look into it for you.

Re: Meguiar's in search of a red thirdgen

My paint is crap, but the crap doesn't show in pictures (actually looks somewhat nice in pictures)... And my RS is my daily driver, so I couldn't be without it for more than a weekend. I will see what I can find for pics when I get home tho.

Thanks!

Re: Meguiar's in search of a red thirdgen

I've noticed Meguiar's tends to select red cars when they do detail demos during the RM Auctions on ESPN. Red is usually a nice color to show the detail work on film or video.

If you ever need a white Firebird, I have a good candidate.

My hood was repainted but it has rock chips and stuff in it. The roof and hatch have the typical clear-coat peeling problem. I'm not sure if its what you're looking for, but its red with white stripes.

Re: Meguiar's in search of a red thirdgen

Something isn't working right - you posted shortly after 1:00PM today that you resent but by the time I left work at 4:00PM today I still didn't have it. I know the email address I posted is correct because I got Imadude_134's pictures via email. Could be that your pictures are too big, or the combined file size is too big. Maybe you can just post them here, or try sending them one at a time.

Sorry 'bout that.

Tony, good to hear we've selected your car for this little project. I don't know what all they told you about the deal but I look forward to meeting you here next week.

Re: Meguiar's in search of a red thirdgen

Well I must say comming down to Irvine was fun. Meguiars tested their new product on my hood and it looks great. Now I just need to do the rest of my car myself. I realized that Meguiars is like the In n Out of car care. Everyone was super nice, and their products are of great quality. They let me hang out in their training room which seemed more like a awesome rec room. I think the tv was a 50 inch LCD all their products were all lined up and a fridge full of drinks. They also let me work on my car for a little bit, taught me to do it properly, and gave me some stuff to take home to finish the job. Mike thanks for giving me the opportunity to come down I had fun and hope to see you guys again.

Re: Meguiar's in search of a red thirdgen

Glad you had a good time Tony, sorry I didn't get to say goodbye when you left though. You should try to come down for a Thursday Night Open Garage or even a Saturday Clinic. Same goes for the rest of you local guys - Tony's experience is pretty much just the way we do things around here.

I've been to the Saturday clinic twice now and picked up a buffer last time. Meguiars is good stuff and good people!

Once I get my car painted I'll have to check it out so I can keep my paint looking new.
