4th gen springs on a 3rd gen

Does anyone know if the springs from a 4th gen will fit on the front of our 3rd gens? Cant really find anything about this on the boards. I got a set of springs from a friend for free. My rears were really sagging and I put them on. WELL, let me tell you, the ride is great and my car sits really even now. I cant lower it cause my drive way is too steep. Anyone who put 4th gen springs on the front of a third gen, let me know how your car sits now. Thanks, Tom

You can't use the fronts. As you know, the rears are fine, but the fronts are totally different. 4th gens have real coil overs, with the strut going thru the middle of the spring. 3rd gens have externally mounted/separate struts and coils.

No go man.

4th gen springs won't work. 4th gens are lighter...all that fiberglass and plastic. You need bigger ones. You can use IROC springs or get an EIbach pro spring kit. I recommend Eibachs. You get an 1.3 in drop in front and 1.25 at rear (I think). Makes the car look VERY nice and mean looking.

I'll mention it again, I have a set of matched BZW/NNL '88 Iroc springs I need to get rid of...went to Eibachs.

If anyone's interested.

Ed

I would like to go with new springs, but I cant lower my car at all due to my driveway. I am NOT parking my baby on the street all the time. They way my car sits now is ideal. It is not low, but even all across. Took some pics tonight and I will try to get them up here tomorrow. I know it is not as mean looking as a car dropped, but I have to live with it until I leave this place. I do like the even look. I hated having the rear lower than the front. Guess I will just keep my stock front springs on. Thomas

Lighter than mine...I have a convertable. *S* That's just what I heard and it makes a little sense, but its prob more likely due to the 4th gen coil-over design I guess.
