i got new futuras!!

omg i got the new futura tires from pepboys and they are awsome as hell. they are p255, i just got them on the back and they were onsale. like 120 a peice them one 80 on the rims and balenced. they are super soft and wide as hell. my p245 goodyears were 9 1/2 inches wide and these are 10 3/4 inches
and the best part is that there z-rated. ok now to make this tech i know that z-rated means they are alot better for high speeds and stuff but wut exactly does it mean? thanks guys and i recomend these things cause they are awsome

The Speed ratings on tires go like this:

P - 93 MPH
Q - 99 MPH
S - 112 MPH
T - 118 MPH
U - 124 MPH
H - 130 MPH
V - 149 MPH
W - 168 MPH
Y - 186 MPH
Z - 149+ MPH

I think the sidewall is stiffer for higher speed rated tires, don't quote me though.

the higher the speed rating the stiffer the sidewall and the better construction on the tire. I know that for a fact because my dad sells tires :-) and I've been able to see z rated compared to s rating ones and the higher the letter the better construction

Well, since I sell those tires I guess I'll comment. The Ultra Z, if I'm not mistaken, has a W rating I believe. That's good up to 168mph and the load index is in the lower 90s as well. Traction AA, Temp A, Treadwear 300. Many people buy them because they are a pretty good price. As the speed rating increases, the stiffness of the sidewall increases. I've never used these tires myself and have only worked there for about a year and a few months. I have yet to see any repeat customers of the Zs and get any feedback because I've only worked there for a little over a year now. If you do find something you hate about the tires let me know. Thanks.

Futura Ultra Z's are "Z" rated. Duh.

How could they sell a name like ultra z and NOT be Z rated? Anyway here's the link for proof. Oh, and I have the Z's.

I love them and get good comments from their looks as well. I took them to the track and got 2.0 60 foot times with them at full street pressure. I'm hoping for some 1.9's with my added Spohn TA and lowering the pressure.

for the price the tires are just 'alright'. nothing to write home about. there is no point lowering the pressure of the tires at the track because the sidewalls won't wrinkle.

Cooper makes em for pep boys and they are modeled on the cobras. I have had both in many speed ratings and are definately the best tire for the money around in a 50 series.

where did you get a Z rating from this page, they are clearly W rated, look in the column "service description", it shows weight rating ang speed rating, the speed rating for all these Ultra Z tires is W

Anything past a V rating (149mph) is considered Z (149+). The only real time you need to see past the Z rating and into the actual rating like W or what not is when you have a really big heavy car with power. Some Rolls Royces take a 102 Y tire therefore, by law, the Z's would be unacceptable.

the ultra z a pretty good tire but not the best tire on the market. you can get a better tire for about the same price. i work for pep boys too but would not put those tires on my car. i'm in no way saying there a bad tire but you can get a lot better tire from tirerack.com.

Well, in BOLD red letters at the top right of the page it says "Z speed rated". There you go.
