as apposed to an 82 or 83 I would have to say metal fatigue and worn out bushings. They have seen six more years more road use.

They also started using bigger swaybars and possibly better springs the newer the car was. It also depends on what model each was. I read an old article on someones sight from car craft or something like that. They were testing out a mid 80s WS6 transam and they stated that it had a much better feel than the iroc they tested earlier. I think that this may have been due to the fact that the ws6 began using bigger swaybars earlier than the camaro. With new/upgraded parts you could make any f-body handle as good as another since all of the parts are interchangeable.

I "heard" (through the internet ) that GM stiffened the chassis a bit for the final years. Not sure what years, or if this is even true, but I agree that mileage is also probably a factor.

Better springs and sway bars, no to mention GM started using better adhesives in the body so they don't "loosen up" as much as the earlier cars.

Our cars have a bad rep for rattling and squeaking as they age. The earlier models are the worst.
