Silly brakes: whats going on??

A few months ago, a mechanic told me the seals on my axle were worn out and that the fluid from the differential was leaking a little down the axle and 'coating' the pads inside the drum making them basically useless. I deferred to have them work on it. Now I am noticing that as I get toward the very end of my brake travel (i.e at a red light), my brakes feels like they want to grab. I have no idea, but it feels like the front brakes are doing this. It just feels like a little forward jolt and I have to be very carful about how hard I push as I come to a complete stop.

At a light today I pumped the brakes all the way 2-3 times. When I lifted my foot, the car just sat. As I pushed on the gas, it seemed like the brakes were still applied a little and then 'let go' at about 10 mph.

I've no clue: I was going to just go ahead and redo the drums this weekend b/c I know they need it. But....does this make any sense to anyone??

sounds like they cleaned it real well and didnt lube the moving parts of the brake, which might cause a bind.

I have no idea though if they even touched it. They just told me it was leaking and said it might hinder the brakes. But, its about time I took the drums apart anyway. I wish I could find rotors that would fit a 10-bolt.

oh i see..... ten your problem is obviously the grease on the pads causing the grab. you probaby glazed the pads and drum. Fix the leak, machine the drum, put new pads.

Yeah....great. Man I needed your input on that. I was really putting off fixing my leaky seals but I guess I have to now.

Really appreciate your help, cdog.
Take it easy
