SFC ride quality...

Hey

I just bought a set of Hotchkis SFC today. I know that they increase the stiffness of the car, reduce rattles, and give u better cornering ability along with the other benifits. I hav'nt heard about how the cars ride quality changes after adding SFC. I tryed a search and didnt come up with anything. So all u people with SFCs, did the ride quality of that car change much, Can feel all the little bumps in the road now and everything else.

Thanks alot.

Yes, it changed quite a bit. For the better.

It didn't affect feeling every pebble and all that, that mostly comes from inferior tires. I don't buy the cheeeeepest tires that fit so that's never really been an issue in my car.

They firmed up the car and stopped it from every bump sending the whole car body into a shimmying, wobbling, mass of Jello sort of shake. Now, not nearly as much mystery hardware falls out of the dash and stuff like that, compared to when it was newer, because the car is vibrating and shaking and twisting a whole lot less.

No loss of ride quality but tremendous quality in handling. No one should be without SFCs. It also allows you to jack the car up from the side in a much easier spot. Do away with that dragon of a jack in the back.

I agree with everyone else, I haven't really noticed much of a change in ride quality. Install them and enjoy the stiffness.

I noticed the ride is different, but better-different. The suspension is now doing more of the work instead of transferring the shock to the chassis. The whole car doesn't quiver and shake and the doors don't move up and down like they did w/o the SFC's.

Thanks for the info.

I have another question though, seeing how I havnt gotten any responses over on the exhaust board. I am going to be getting Hooker Headers (2055) with the Y Pipe included along with the Hooker Catback. Am I going to have any kind of clearence problems with the Hotchkis SFCs.
If anyone out there has Hotchkiss SFCs with the Hooker Headers and Catback let me know if there where clearence problems. I hope there isnt.

Thanks again.

SFC's took a lot of rattles out of my car, but straight line traction suffered. I think because before my body would twist and absorb some of the torque the engine was applying.

With my headman Ypipe, I had very little room for square tubing to fit along the body. I don't know how those sfc's fit, but you will want ones that damn near follows the contours of the floorboards. I'm sure an exhaust shop could modify your ypipe a little bit too if there are problems.
It might be easier and cheaper though, to get the exhaust shop to make a ypipe from scratch once you got the SFC's in.

The Kenny Browns are really well made pieces. They have a pretty beefy mount to the rear trailing arm. The rails are straight and run along the rocker seam. They pinch weld to the seam itself. Then, they mount in front along the front sub frame.

I like them!! I got mine from Lingenfelter for $229.
