Got a complete disk rear. Will I need to change the master cylinder?

I got a rebuilt 10 bolt for a good price w/ disk brakes. Can I just drop the old one and bolt up the new one? Will the brake lines need to be replaced?

I tried to search but most people were just swaping the brakes and had to do some cutting. The rear I'm getting is out of a 86 TA and I have a 91 GTA. Are there any major mods that I'll have to do to get it to fit?

Thanks.

You may have to replace the rear brake lines, or possibly rebend them if they are close. You'll have to replace the rubber flex hoses, I'd bet.

You'll also need to replace the proportioning valve, but the master cylender should be ok as is.

Can I get that from a parts store, or will I have to go to the dealer?

Dunno really.
It really depends on the part stores in your area. I would imagine that they should carry it, or at least be able to order one.

should be a direct bolt in, however make sure you get the right stuff you need for the ebrake to work right..

no change in master cyclinder, however you may need the disk brake proportioning valve.

The major problem will be the brake lines from SAE to METRIC everything else should be find except for proportioning valve and update kit for the 86 disc brakes. Not a choice I would make to update on rear assembly.

you'll definately need a disc/disc proportioning valve..they're50/50 while the disc/drum one is 70/30.

I thought that you had to change the master cylinder when changing from drums to discs? I seem to remember reading that it was because the one that came with the drums had a lower capacity than the ones with discs

Been there and done it. 1989 BW 9-bolt Disc into a 1987 IROC
with a 10-bolt Drum rear and the Master Cylinder does not need to be REPLACED.
