That is really going to be a personal preference. If you are asking if he produces a quality powdercoat then the answer is yes. It is a very high quality finish.
On the SFC's you will need to grind away the powder coat at the points where you will weld.
I ordered mine with the powder coat. It looks good and will protect the SFC's. After they were welded up I touched up the paint with some spray.

My next set of SFCs will definitely be Spohn. However, I will not pay extra for powdercoating that I will have to grind off, weld on, and recoat to keep from rusting. I would buy them bare finish, install them, and then cover them with POR-15. That will keep them from rusting for a long time.
Just my opinion.

My problem would be, can you expect to be able to coat the top of the SFC that's snug against the underside of the car?
That's the reason I could get them coated...
Other ideas?

Let me add a bit to what I said earlier....I plan on test fitting the SFCs under the car by jacking them up snug against the car and marking them where they will be welded. I will then coat them with POR everywhere except where they are marked so the tops and other unreachable places will be covered. Then I'll weld them in and coat the welds with POR. I think this will do. This way the coating will be uninterrupted. I know they're under the car but I don't want them to look like ***.

See, like I said personal preference. The pics above are before the touch up paint and acutally the rubber skirting on my GFX covers the welds so that you don't even see that part. The parts that are visible under the car look great. You only have to grind away small amounts of the coating where you will weld. That is where my respect for his powder coating came from ;-) It is a pretty thick coating.
Which ever way you plan to go you will love what the SFC's do for your ride.
Good Luck.

I hear ya. The POR "starter kit" which has enough to do the SFCs and then some is only $15 at the website...well worth it IMO for the protection it gives.

How seemless is it to join to coats, say you grind off the powder coating and then POR-15 the welded bits...
Or get them bare, POR-15 the parts that you know aren't gonna be welded and then go over the unwelded bits with POR-15 and sorta merge the 2 coats?
