Loose tie rods? Was everything torqued correctly, and cotter pins installed in the right places?

Sounds like your outer brake pad is loose in the caliper....and rattling whenever it gets jolted (bumped). Try lightly applying the brakes when you go over a bump or something similiar....if the noise disappears, that's the cause of it. You can use a large pair of waterpump (aka slipjoint) pliers to tighten the 'ears' of the pad onto the caliper, or get a tube of 'Disc Brake Quiet' and apply a bit to the backside of the pad where it contacts the caliper.

the pads aren't loose, the noise sounds deeper than that, if there's a passenger in the car they can feel it in the floor.

It sounds like it might be the tranny mount.

nothing stands out as loose and I have an energy suspension tranny mount(got tiard of replacing those POS rubber ones-it sounds nothing like a tranny mount)

'88 vert did the same until I changed the front brakes...mine was the caliper was sticking and clunked when it "broke" free

changed the rotors, pads and calipers and problem went away
