never had that happen before, maybe try some type of spray lubricant... maybe a few light taps from a hammer also..

ouch...

i went and bougt some penetrating fluid and let it soak on all the corrosion for about an hour or so... then i got my 3lb hammer out again and gave the rotor about 3 light hits from the backside and apparently i broke the c-clip because my axle came out of the rear end..

hehe... gotta hate that....

figured i would post this up here so that if anybody else ever has this problem they'll know what not to do....

this is getting crazy... i removed the wheel studs and and the rotor is still holding onto the axle with some kind of death grip..

my final effort will be to spray some penetrating fluid into the holes where the studs used to be and leave it overnight....
if that doesn't work then i guess i'm going to have to buy some new axles..

how much are new axles anyway?

The place it is most likely rusted fast is at the center hub. The place where the rotor slips over the center is a pretty tight fit without the rust. Spray the whole rotor down with the WD-40 and let it sit over night, then hit it on the edges with a hammer in several places and see if it loosens up. Hopefully you only broke the "C" clip and not the end of the axle because you're going to need to anchor that axle somehow to work that rotor off, so before you go too far, check the axle, if the splined end broke off...chuck it in the garbage and move on.

AIR HAMMER. get an air hammer. It 'll do the job with a lot less damage to other parts. That is how brake shops do it. Hope I told you in time. Nothing like getting p****d at your car with a sledge hammer in hand. Bad things man--bad things.

C-clips almost never break; it's almost always the axle.

Pull the axle out and look at it. If the end of it is broken off, problem solved.... you need an axle and a caliper.

i would like to thank StreetRCR for enlightening me... because $230 later(air compressor and an air hammer) i got the damn rotors off... and will also get a load of use out of my new pneumatic tools

thanks for the insight RB83L69.. i believe that i found the problem with the axle... and the fix was very easy.... embarrassingly easy..
but you're input sets me at ease because i thought i might have messed something up
