What brake rotors and pads do you recommend?

I need to replace the pads and rotors on my 89 Formula. The GM dealer wants $195 CAD for each front rotor. Raybestos rotors are priced at $186. I can get Aimco rotors for $145 at Lordco, but I've never heard of Aimco (though I think I saw on some website that Aimco makes the rotors for ACDelco?).

Anyway... I was wondering what rotors and pads are recommended. I can swing the $195 ones from GM... I'm just used to GM parts being overpriced and would rather get the same quality for less if possible.

Also, what brake pads are recommended?

This is my daily driver. I'm not looking for anything super fancy... just something that's good all around.

is that for the stock rotors? gm make performance parts crossdrilled/slotted rotors that are the same price or possibly slightly more. just an idea and they look better.

i used their upgraded pads as well with them and loved them. honestly though, until you replace those rubber brake hoses with some nice braided line from earl's you'll never understand what a good brake system feels like. cheapest yet most effective mod i made to my brakes.

Picked up some new rotors at Lordco last night for $40 a piece and some AC Delco pads.

Thanks for the replies.

They eliminate the stretching that a rubber line does. It will make for a more firm pedal. They are also much more safe and durable. I have a set on my race car, no rubber line at all.

yes they do.......if i could spare it on all my cars i would.

the brakes just respond better in everyway, granted that most times i've installed them were to replace high mileage rubber ones.
