front end suspension options??

i am looking for options for the front end of my project car. seeing as how it is totaly shot and will need to br replaced. its time to look for options on what i can do.

right now i am willing to look at every thing out there and dont mind if major work will need to be done.

as you can see from the pic the lower control arm must be replaced. along with other stuff

never seen one that bad before

Yeah that does look really bad. Before you start spending money on parts I would take everything apart and see if the mounting points and frame pieces themselves are still good. It would be a bad experience to install all these great front end parts, but then have the car fail later because of rust weakened frame area's or mounting areas. Off the top of my head here are some chassis/steering things that you can buy for the front end:

Front End Rebuild Kit from Spohn (around $350) includes:
- Moog Centerlink
- Moog Idler Arm
- Moog Inner Tie Rod Ends (Qty. 2)
- Moog Outter Tie Rod Ends (Qty. 2)
- Moog Lower Ball Joints (Qty. 2)
- Moog Adjusting Sleeves (Qty. 2)
Tubular K-Member from PA Racing (around $400 from Thunder Racing)
Tubular A-Arms from PARacing (around $300 from same place)

From the look of it the car probably needs new springs and struts too. It would also be a good idea to redo all the bushings while you're at it.

i have not got the car apart. but will be sure that it is a solid base for a project. from what i can see so far it seen to only be the suspension parts that are bad. the sub frame seem to be good.
i will know for sure when i get it all apart.

i am even open to the idea of a vette front end or something like fatel 88 did with the forthgen (sub frame and suspention.)

i am looking to build a car that is not what you would normaly see.

i am also looking into a IRS aswell. but thats for another post

Damn, looks like your car has been sitting in the ocean or something. But yeah, I agree that on something that looks that rusted, you should inspect the rest of the subframe to make sure it's ok. Especially around the steering box, it's been known to crack around the mount holes on the frame. If everything checks out ok, then the front end rebuild is mandatory and should be all you need. The PA Racing stuff is nice, but not necessary. You can pull a K member and A arms off a junk yard 3rd gen. But if you're going through the trouble of replacing a K member then you might as well go aftermarket.

i gotta agree with what CrazyHawaiian said... everything he listed is more or less the best around. That's far from a stock rebuild and will be a nice setup when done..

Damn, I saw that wreck while diving in the ocean. Bet if you look close enough you'll find a rock scallop or two.

what else would you want to do...........either go with new a-arms or tubular.

then decide wether you want stock spring, coilover, or airbag.

i'm not sure there is anything that really makes people go omg without doing a one off custom job using an entirely different setup..........

good luck with it.
