SSM South Side Machine kit

Does anybody have the SSM Liftbar, subframe, X-member kit installed? I'm thinking of getting it but would like to know how it performs, handiling and traction wise.

Thanks for any info on these!!

I like the setup. It works really good in my opinion. I am not so sure putting it on a 7.5 rear is a good idea. About a week after the install I cleaned 3 teeth of the ring gear. It did take a bit off the handling of the car, but then again I do not use it for autocross.

I`m happy with mine, had them for about 5 years now.Excellent drag race setup IMO,managed a 1.39 60` with them alone, every other suspension piece on my car is OEM stuff.I would`nt use them for handling though as they really don`t allow body roll. They will bind as a result if you come out of your driveway or go over a speed bump crooked however I`ve noticed no damage at all on mine, which isn`t a strip only car.I`ve heard also that they can tear the axle tubes on stock rears, mine are welded to the centersection.Once you set pinion angle that`s it,no adjustability. Another important point, there are some F-body events that will not let you participate if you have them It`s a bummer,I`ve seen some torque arms as short as 22" and most of them are adjustable at both ends!

ive had mine in for about a year now, and im very happy with it. it hooks up nasty with slicks.

however, im gonna have to remove the bars from the rear, cut the flanges off and make new ones for a moser 12-bolt which has larger axle tubes. Im toying with different ideas for making them bolt up to the axle as well.

heres what it looks like installed.

I have everything you need minus the subframe connectors for sale if you are interested...I bought the kit a while back and only installed the subframe connectors. I have the rest all in storage in perfect condition...pm me if interested.

i would say it would be different but effective given the proper combination of shocks and springs....the way the kit is setup, it eliminates the need for a sway bar, and actually performs the same job far better.....as the axle and the 2 lift bars are one piece, the car cannot roll over the axle at all.

no, the kit eliminates the torque arm only

it makes your rear suspension very similar to a four link with the lift bars as the lower link, and the lca's as the upper links.

without the panhard rod, your axle would move laterally under the car, you need it....i have the hotchkis adjustable one.
