1LE Vs, after market

i have a 92 1LE wit 930000k on it and i'm gonna need new shocks struts and springs. my question is the car is not a road racing car or anythin like that just a street racer that goes to the track allot. don't get me wrong handling is very important but my question is will it be worth it for me to but aftermarket spring shocks and struts or should i just get new 1LE componets from gm partsdirect??? and what will be the difference in price and handling.

If it's a real factory 1LE by all means buy the original 1LE parts from GM, that is the only way to go...

i say, since it has alot of miles and its not a restoration project, go with the cheapest of the two. 1le is good but some aftermarket stuff is better and less expensive.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the 1LE had the same shocks, struts and springs as a Z28 or WS6.

it had the stiffer version like on the L98's as far as i knew...

to me it would depend on the price. i loved my bilstein/eibach combo.

Just stick with the 1LE stuff, I was thinking about doing the same thing but just stayed with the 1LE stuff, handles and brakes just fine.

as far as a RACE only 1le... i heard the had 6 different spring rates to chose from.... these arent the ones that u would find on the street alot... and dude after seeing ur car, go w/ the aftermarket... ur not going to be doing a resto project or competing in any nostalgic race where u need to have factory stock equipment.... by all means if on day u think u might want to "restore the car" buy the 1le **** and save em.... soooner or later gm is going to run out of that ****.... but like i said.... after seeing ur car.... go with the aftermarket

I agree with Benny. The 1LE is all you need for street use. It also fits the 16" wheels. You be supprised what some new pads, steel brakelines, and new replacement rotors would do.

Nothing wrong with the stock 1LE stuff, that is what your car came with in the first place, excellent balance of street and race performance and good fit and finish.

is that 93k or 930k miles? if the latter, you need to bring that car to the Augusta GA area sometime. I've always wanted to see a million mile car
