Anyone make aftermarket isolators? Skinnier
Does anyone make skinnier isolators? I am going to be putting in my "Pro-Kit" next weekend, and I have heard and seen that the rear doesn't sit low enough. I thought about cutting half a coil off of the rear springs, even though they are progressive. I am not sure if this will be enough by itself. Plus if I wanted to go lower, I wouldn't be able to sell these as easy if they were cut.
I heard that the new GM isolators are too tall, and the factory ones are as short as you can get. Just wanted to check.
TIA

the GM isolators are pretty thick and when i installed them with my Prokit my car stayed at just about the same height. I hear that people use FOX body mustang isolators, i would go to your local parts store and check them out.

I just cut a half coil off my IROC springs and added the new GM isolators (becasue I didn't have any isolators on before at all), and dammit myride helight was exactly the same as when I started lol. So now for this weekend I'm gearing up to cut another half coil lol.

Well I see it as a waist to not use the pro-kit rear. I guess I could step up on the rear sway bar, but that would cause a too stiff of a rear end from side to side, and too much bouce. My stock springs are weak and worn out, sagged if you will, but that is why I am trying to figure it out.
I have never heard of anybody using the fox chassis isolators, are they the same size? Do you know anyone so I could talk to them?

I was wondering the same thing... if someone makes aftermarket isolators. Are the stock isolators made of rubber? Maybe a few emails to ES or Prothane, and we can get polyurethane isolators on the market.

I'm using the Pro-Kit springs and no isolators.
As long as the rear suspension has weight on it, there are no rattles or squeaks without the isolators .

Thanks for the replys. I have a t-top car with all the options, inculding the rear-compartment locking storage cover. I think that would be too much weight and cause squeaking, esp when my t-tops are off and in the back. I guess I will look into the fox chassis mustang and see if they are skinnier than my stock worn out ones.
